I specifically made sure my wife's car came ordered with black seatbelts, as I had ordered the designo white quilted seats and carbon fiber interior, and I thought it would clash. Promised it would be black. Came in with red. Brought it home to the wife and presented her with her new car. She looked it over and said she really loved the red seat belts! Naurally I said "I ordered those specially for you honey..."
for us Canadians as previously stated the designo red seat belts are a 250$ add-on and by DEFAULT the car comes with black seat belts unless changed or ordered.
I have what mambrose mentions above- white Designo leather and carbon fiber interior with red belts. Wasn't what I was going to the dealer to order but I love how different it is.
I have package 641 (Black MB-Tex/DINAMICA w/Red Stiching)
but... my car has BLACK seat belts. Which I prefer.
The data card I pulled up had this line:
U17 (DELETION OF COLOR SEAT BELT)
...so pull up the data from the VIN and make sure it doesn't have that if you want red seat belts
unr1 is right (and provides the best advice - check your VIN), red seatbelts are standard on the C43 with 641 and 241 upholsteries (look for option Y05):
Black seatbelts with 641 or 241, mean that the red seatbelts would have specifically been deleted with U17 (like unr1 mentioned):
It shouldn't be a big deal for the dealership to switch these out, I have seen that happen before.
Exactly, he just has to ask. Worst case scenario is he'll have to pay for the seatbelts.
At a minimum the dealership should comp the labor to swap them. OP should insist on that. If the dealer screwed up on entering the order into Netstar then I would press for them to cover the belts as well.
Mariusweber,
Did you dealer sent you the final spec sheet for your build when he submitted the PO? They are supposed to send it to you to review once it's entered. This spec sheet has every option lined out.
You sound like an absolute ****. This is his car he is paying money for. He deserves to have it the way he wants and likes.
Go away you fool.
I agree with alexasa.
OP needs to make sure he doesn't pay for them and should negotiate a fair and reasonable gesture (gift, dealer credit, etc.) from the dealer. And that should be the end of it.
No need to make it into a huge issue. It's just some [boy racer] seat-belts for fhucks sake. A waste of MBWorld bandwidth right here.
I also love the red seat belts.. they were a must have. When I was ordering mine, I checked the options list and it said "non color" seat belts. I asked the sales person to check on it and he came back with an order form that said "red seat belts".
It's an option. So the question is: Did you specifically ask for red seat belts? Did the order form say that you were getting red seat belts? If he answer to these questions is yes, then you have a very strong case.
I spent $15k more than I had intended on spending on a car after seeing the red belt option on the c450. I was buying a Golf R until VW wanted over sticker and I went shopping. I fell in love with a dealer demo, went inside and ordered the car I wanted. My salesman tried to talk me out of diamonds silver too! I made the right choice, and I asked for red seat belts 14 times before the contract was signed.
I hope you get what you want.
