It's not about 'need'...it's about 'want'!!
I too am planning for the AMR tune to be done in the spring. I'll be doing the downpipes at the same time as I yank the ECU so I can have them done at the same time. This is about the limit, from what I can see, for the performance upgrades for our cars. In terms of making sure that things don't go BANG, I don't think we've heard of anything actually catastrophic as of yet from just doing the tune.

Are you going to replace the ECU, or put the same one in?

In fact I did a quick impromptu 0 - 60 run using the very un scientific lap timer method on the AMG display on the dash.

Much better results than day 1 with the tune. 4.89 seconds. That is just with me hitting the button and flooring it and hitting the button again as soon as I saw 60 so I know not very accurate but if I got 4.89 doing it that way, the car must be much faster than that at this point.

I am now very satisfied with my tune.

to the other poster about the factory non AMG exhaust. I agree completely I am not hardly getting any crackles and pops at all with the standard exhaust, it drives me nuts so my next purchase will be the AWE Touring Cat back exhaust. Hopefully that will satisfy my desire to hear crackles and pops. I am hoping either this month or next to order it and have it installed.
What made you want to get it tuned? Were you looking for a horsepower increase? it seems like a lot of people here are, over better gas mileage.

I wanted a respectably quick daily driver. Where I live it snows, so buying a C63 AMG is not as simple as forking out $1300 a month for the car. I would also need a second vehicle to drive during the winter months so that increases that monthly car payment even further.
Mercedes Benz does not offer a C63 in 4 Matic and I cannot afford $2000 a month for an E63 with a second set of wheels with winter tires.

With that Said for me the C43 is the obvious choice with a few tweaks. Those tweaks are a full exhaust system and AMR tuning. Hopefully with a good launch the car will run some high 11's.

My down pipes are currently at Jet Hot getting ceramic coated and my ECU is at AMR as we speak receiving an AMR BEAST MODE STAGE 2.

There were many reasons I chose to do the tune. And I would not say that the tune gives worse gas mileage. I am very happy with my AMR tune and gas mileage. I would venture to say that those of us who opted for a tune just wanted our cars to perform to their full potential, which is in C63 territory.

Hi Guys,

I realize this is an older thread. But I hope you won't mind me bringing it back up. I just wanted to check with you guys who have the AMR tune if you've had any issues since? For example, any check-engine lights, or other related issues? I have a 2017 C43 and am considering an AMR tune, but I'm just doing homework to see if there are any surprises after ownership. Thank you.

Negative comments towards A M R seem to not go so well around here, but hopefully someone will give an honest answer to your question.

I went with the JB4 because I can remove it when I go to the dealer, but each tune has its ups and downs.

Why is that? Is it a problem to post real world experiences, good or bad? I would think a forum like this would be used to be helpful.

I would be more than happy to answer all of your questions.

This is something you will not need to worry about. Our latest versions, both SV and RV3.1 software upgrades will not cause any CEL on your vehicle. All we ask is for you to do a full scan of your vehicle before shipping the ECU in to us for the upgrade to ensure there are no underlying codes or issues prior to the upgrade.

The OP (original poster) to the thread, is our customer Scott. He has dedicated his instagram to the "performance path" of the C43 AMG. He also has verified both with DRAGY as well as VBOX a 0-60mph in 3.3 seconds!

His instagram: @c43_amg_performance_channel

I am sure you have also seen our AMR Performance instagram, we do quite a few C43 AMG's and have been involved in the engine platform (M276) since the release of the C400. Every upgrade we engineer and design is done on our in-house vehicles.

Here is Scott’s dragy run. He had a number of supporting mods to assist.

will a c400 run the same numbers with same mods I'm aware they use the same engine but the amr tune states that the c400 won't hit the 500hp mark but with the c43 and c450 tune it's over 500hp

No, C400s are roughly .3 seconds behind a C43 in the quarter mile.
