May I ask what the benefit of changing downpipes are ? Does it eliminate catylic converters ? More sound , etc.

Hello I just recently purchased my 2019 C43 and am now just starting to mod the car. I was wondering what are the benefits if any on having catted or catless dp? Power gain or loss? Or is the sound the only difference?

Would it be possible to get a set of DPs for a 2016 c450 with GESi 300cell uho cats installed? If so what would be the cost all in? I want to go catless but in the c63 forums I see users stating that they smell exhaust fumes especially when stopped at lights with catless DPs. Anyone with a c450/43 who has catless DPs installed have any exhaust fumes at red lights?

I have one more question regarding these pipes. Would you/do you recommend against any type of heat insulation (ceramic coating or wraping)? Many people seem to ceramic coat DPs. Doesn't this have the potential to deteriorate the DP itself due to excessive heat? I imagine thermal insulation would decrease the service life of the DP.

For people who have DPs, did you install them yourself? Can anyone recommend a reputable shop in the nyc metro area to have them installed?

Since there are not cats present there is nothing that retains heat in the downpipes, so heat insulation is not required.
