C43 best gas to use?
Hello Fam, I'm new to this group and recently got myself a C43! And would like to know where would be the best gas station to get gas at? I live in California and usually get Chevron 91. A buddy of mine said he used to go to chevron but switched over to shell because its better for turbo cars. Let know what you guys think and where you fill up at. Thanks!

I would like to see some unbiased testing showing what level octane rating will develop the best performance and mpg results for the C43. However, to suggest shell is better for turbo cars is completely assinine as shows complete ignorance of the industry. It's possible 2 different stations could have been filled by the same tanker from the same terminal, including a discount station depending on the location of the station and terminal.

Techron-schmecron... All the gimmicks are just marketing b.s. The only thing you need to consider when choosing brand is if it is "Top-tier" or not. Only use Top-tier fuel and always select the highest octane available.

I work for Shell Oil Products at the Martinez refinery in California. California gas is cal-spec...all the California refineries are required to produce it...the only difference is the additive package...better additive package equals TopTier. You will see Chevron trucks at Shell's Martinez refinery...and you will see tankers at Chevron's Richmond refinery heading for Shell branded gas stations...it's all the same cal-spec fuel. The additive package is the difference. Me for gas I purchase at Costco...cheaper price great additive package...for diesel I use SAMs club strickly for pricing...diesel is diesel.

91 Octane. If you live in a state with 93 or above as an option, I guess that works. 91 will get you top performance. Diminishing returns above that point, but to each their own.

Not sure why you guys are looking at CR for Top Tier fuel. Look at the Top Tier Website
http://www.toptiergas.com/licensedbrands/
Marathon is on it. To be honest, pump at a station that is moving a lot of fuel, don't pump when the trucks are filling the tanks and of course choose a top tier fuel supplier. Avoid Ethanol where possible (in Canada that is Shell VPower!). I've been using Esso 93 due to the tune and track day so back to 91 Shell for me now.

I only use supermarket petrol, Sainsbury's. I get loads of points on my nectar card and 10p of a litre after a while. I did fill up once at Tesco, it was freezing, about four in the morning going home from the club and I didn't know how to use the pump. Good thing I was getting diesel. We stopped doing petrol by the gallon a long time ago, you can only get it by litre...

I have found the using the same fuel they put in the DeLorean in Back to the Future works best! My secret combo is banana peels, diet coke and 1/2 an Ice Cream sandwich. Fastest way 88MPH.

You have to figure out what's the best around your area, around me Shell and Sunoco are the best. While there is a Costco around me and I often use it, my evo knocks with it, but not with Shell or Sunoco. If I'm planning to go to the track, I avoid Costco.
Another thing to avoid, don't ever top your car with a couple of gallons, especially from a pump that uses a single hose for all the octanes. One time I was heading to the dyno to get the evo tuned. On the way there, I noticed I was low on gas and decided to top it with a "couple of 93 gallons". At the dyno, the car was knocking like crazy on the base tune. The tuner asked me what kind of gas I had in it, when I told that I topped it on the way, he advised me to never do that. Basically, when you use the single hose, you're getting around ~ a gallon ~ of whatever the guy before you used and there is a good chance it was 87 octane.

And most, all really, places around here are single hose.

Use Top Tier gasoline. The cars computers are smart enough to retard engine timing to prevent knock. According to that article, it won't even make a difference in gas mileage. As stated previously, the only difference between the gas is what additives have been added to it.

I recommend never using any gas that is not a big name brand and this goes for wholesale clubs also.
Cheap gas will ruin your O2 sensors prematurely and cause other issues, not worth saving an extra 5 cents per gallon.
My personal Favorites are Shell Super- which Ferrari, Road & Track Magazine and many others endorse and BP Amoco premium gas, which is really great fuel. I also own a BMW and in their owners manual they state to use a premium brand fuel like BP.
I also throw in a bottle of techron every 5000mi to keep the gunk out
Just my 2 cents
