What should I pay for an used C43?

My dealer noticed me that there's a used 2017 C43 with about 1.3k miles for sale at $51,000 (MSRP at $59,605)

Is there more room to discount off or should I just go and take it for the listed price?

Never bought or thought about getting a 'used' car before, any suggestions?

Should I just special order one? I don't need any options just a base coupe, planning to do major modding/upgrades. If so, how much discount off the invoice price I can get the dealer to give me? I've read threads where people got major discounts on special orders but when I spoke to my local dealer, they simply said no way because they'll not make any profits... I'm located in Oregon but flexible to purchase from dealers anywhere in West Coast.

Much thanks

I am not sure where you are located but I just looked a LOANER 2017 C43 with about 5,000 miles. It had a sticker of 66,00 and they where selling it for 55,400. The only thing was it technically was not USED because it was never registered so I could if I wanted to LEASE it.

Located in Oregon. The C43 I'm looking says "returned by the buyer, purchased at the original dealership". So it's 100% used as status, but vehicle condition wise is almost new.

A 2017 with that low mileage for that low amount already seems too good to be true, even if it doesn't have a lot of the extra add ons. IMO that is too low... suspicious..

no, I looked up the VIN and it never left the state for registration or had any service done anywhere else but the dealer.

should try to verify why it was returned. I wont disclose specifics on mine, but back in July, I bought my "used" c43. someone special ordered it, dealer marked it as sold on the books December 31 2016 to get their kickback incentives. then customer backed out 4 months later and never picked up car. lost his deposit on the car. dealer general manager drove it for 900 miles as commuter (not demo), and i saw it on lot with stickers and inquired about it and they said it was the general managers car but will be for sale soon. long story short i am first registered owner of vehicle, got it with 1k miles and for about the price you see posted, maybe a little less had all the best features too such as panorama roof, amg exhaust, navi. only thing it didnt have I wanted is the ILS (has static LED). I will eventually add ILS probably. My msrp was slightly higher than the one you are looking at so I would push for 50k or at least 50.5k and run away with a smokin deal as long as you can verify why it was returned. it may be as simple as the guy wanted a c63. or had family issues and down graded to a cla. you never know the reason.

either way. I would purchase that car anywhere from 49.5-51k. its a good buy. be happy!

I would ask the dealer to clarify "returned by the buyer, purchased at the original dealership" I'd also ask for a Carfax and I'd want to see the original window sticker. That being said it could have been a loaner car, it could have been a managers demo, or it could be a buy back..You need to ask questions and get answers about the cars history. I'd also want to know the status of the title has it already been titled or will you be the first Tittled owner? The $51K price is a good number.. Maybe you can get first service tossed in too.

I wouldn't worry about the reason too much. I'd for sure inquire about it, but I wouldn't worry. The car is still warrantied and they legally can't sell you any form of 'lemon-lawed' car without disclosing it. Person most likely either upgraded or downgraded. And I agree that you should haggle the price down a few grand. Are they letting you re-lease it? Or is it a purchase?

i agree with everything except price haggling. I think they will stay pretty firm especially with a CPO warranty. i usually negotiate out the CPO warranty cause chances are in the first 5 years of a cars life nothing major should go wrong and the warranty doesnt cover general maintnence. the CPO warranties on these cars are usually good for $600-$1200 off.

to the original poster, I spent alot of time looking at pre owned valuation over the last couple of months. I spent about 1 hr a day before I bought mine for a few months analyzing this (don't do that and waste your time). I wouldn't let any of these users scare you into thinking you are getting a potentially faulty car UNLESS they returned it without a real explainable reason why. Besides that, assuming the car is fine, 51k for a 59k-60k msrp is a good deal. I would say new 60k c43s are going for 3k-4k off msrp new. So at this point a practically new 2017 for 9k off is a respectable deal, and not questionably good.

You're right. I guess I should have worded that better. I didn't mean that OP has to succeed in haggling the price down, but that the OP should attempt to do so. So if they are firm on the price and can only give a discount on service/warranty, then take what you can.
