Racechip performance testing

I got my C43 Coupe back in May but definitely felt that more power was needed. After some research I decided to go for the Racechip Ultimate piggyback.

While the "butt dyno" definitely gave the impression that the car was faster (it pulls way harder), I wanted to get some real figures.

So I ordered a Vbox and here are the results...

Best 0 - 60: 3.8s (didn't get a picture in time so you'll have to settle with a 3.9 pic!)
Best 0 - 100: 9.7s

The road was a bit damp so I might go out again tomorrow and see if I can reliably hit a 3.8 0 - 60 and try and get an even better 0 - 100.

What do you guys think of the results?

Nice! A couple of questions:

1. Why didnt you get the BLACK GTS tune?
2. What was your 0-60 and 0-100 time before the RACECHIP?
3. Does your car retain all of its normal/original drive mode functions? Like Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ functions, do they behave normally?
4. How accurate is RACELOGIC?

1 - I bought my Ultimate from "old stock". They reduced the power output of the Ultimate at the same time they released the GTS Black to make the GTS Black more appealing. My Ultimate actually delivers similar power gains to the current GTS Black.
2 - Unfortunately this isn't something I know. I mounted the chip in a place that's very awkward to get to so would rather not remove it for a few tests. Most tests of stock cars I have seen put them around 4-5 - 4.8.
3 - Everything behaves normally.
4 - I believe they are *very* accurate.

Took the car out again tonight for a few more runs and the results are in! Roads were dry but I still think there's maybe a little more room for improvement in the 0 - 100.

0 - 60: 3.8 seconds
0 - 100: 9 seconds dead

Overall I am thrilled with the performance of this car now

Can you direct me or PM me where you get the old stock? And how much did you pay?

I paid £330 from a seller on eBay. Their username was "haz_motorsports" or something.

I see an auction that is listed at £398 but I do not see a £330. Can you pm it to me?

My girlfriend made them an offer and they accepted at £330.

Ahh I see. Thanks mate.

Edit:
Question: Was the "OLD STOCK Ultimate vs BLACK GTS" thing something that Haz_Motorsports told you? Or was it something you noticed yourself during your research.

Was something I noticed myself. They have a very low turnover and I purchased it just after the GTS Black was launched so it was obviously not going to be an updated (gimped) unit

I also posted some info on a RaceChip Ultimate Connect for C43 at:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c450-c43-...er-anyone.html

Looks like you're getting similar results. I'm guessing your fuel is closer to 95 octane without any ethanol content and that may yield slightly better results.

Do you have any other mod beside RaceChip? And did you run it on a flat road or downhill?

I am nowhere near 3.8s measuring with Dragy.

if you are just smashing the accelerator without torque braking there is no way you will be getting sub 4 second 0-60. According to my dragy I’ve done it in 3.75 with only a bms jb1 on 93 map 2. Prolly can improve on that with tweaking map 6. But no torque break, you may get a 4.3-4.6 0-60 if you’re lucky

What he said. My Racechip really improved torque. I’m happy at 4.8 or so. From about 2000 rpm, it really roars.

Using Racechip with the torque braking technique (rev to 2k rpm before releasing brake), even with a little bit of downhill (-2.5% slope), I only manage to get 4.2s at best. Maybe I should reach out to Racechip to see if they can tune it further. I will do another run at the same spot with Racechip turned off.

I agree that torque must have increased, from what I see in Dragy, it almost jump straight to 1g at start, then slowly come down to 0.5g toward the end.

I'm thinking about ordering one of these Vboxes.
Overall are you satisfied with the unit - any complaints?
Can you track 1/4 mile times?
Thanks for the input.

I only had it for as long as it took to test the racechip and then sold it on afterwards so cannot comment

I was getting very reliable 3.8s to 60 on various different stretches of road - nearly all were very flat. The car has no other performance mods.

hey ShakyTom, do you mind me asking why you sold it? Was there any issues you ran into?

Why keep it once you determine your car’s performance?

Long-term validation, validation of future mods yet to be released, "prove" status of performance should one decide to sell the car privately...to name a few

Whatever blows your skirt up. I bought the Dragy for that very reason, the long term cost is nothing.

I kept mine so I can fine tune the map 6 on the JB1. Now if I just had the time lol. I've used it on the 1/8 mile, and it is usually within a .02 if not less. It's pretty accurate. A lot more accurate than I expected it to be. Besides, it's only $150 lol

Have you submitted times? I see the addition of an E43 ran a 3.89 and another C43 ran a 4.72. Is that anyone on this thread? (I'm guessing it's MBKent?
