I haven’t tried this method but it seems like a good way to install a dash cam...

I purchased from https://www.blackboxmycar.ca/ (they also have a US site at https://www.blackboxmycar.com/) and found them to have competitive prices and very knowlegeable people. I strongly recommend them.
Interesting idea to try to get 360-degree coverage. You need to watch the current draw when in parking mode, however.
