Has anyone with an AMG exhaust noticed the crazy amount of black dust coming out the exhaust? Is that just me or is it normal? I do drive the car in S+ and exhaust open quite a bit.

The car is a 2018 with a 1000 miles on it, so I hope that’s not the case!

my guess is a direct injection by product. you see everyone worrying about carbon build up on valves so maybe mercedes figured out how to blow it out the tail pipe. I had it on my c250 and now on my c43. never had it on my older benz with m112 NA engine.it seems to be normal, if not my car is screwed too.

A little bit of adams polish all purpose cleaner and the exhaust brush takes it right off.

I got my car detailed last week. This week it is all black. So no, its not only you, haha.

If you're tuned, its even worse. I used alloy rim cleaner and metal polish to get it clean again.

Interesting ... I just checked mine and they're very clean. Even wiping my finger along the inside edge of both the chrome surround as well as deeper inside the pipes doesn't yield a black mark on my finger. WA gas in our area is 10% ethanol. My car has about 6,900 mi (about 11,100 km) on it ... though I did take great care to break it in properly.





... and in response to later postings, the PE is enabled about 2/3 of the time and there's enough WOT to get things sooty if it was going to happen. I've not even had this issue after performance driving events.

If yours is clean, you dont WOT your car through the gears very often.

Another explanation is the clean ones can also be non PE cars, so they run leaner than the other ones.

My car is white.
After a nice drive the rear end is blackish.
