Change in ECU/TCU Behavior After 1,000 miles?

Change in ECU/TCU Behavior After 1,000 miles?
Someone told me that when breaking in the car, the ECU/TCU software limits power until you hit 1,000 miles. Can anyone confirm this. I am getting close and I am wondering if I should take a road trip to find out.

Interesting you posted this Q as I'm wondering the same thing myself. I'm still under 1k miles and my car should certainly be faster than my 335, but it feels slower so I have to wonder if it's restricted in some way. I know the manual says power is restricted until the engine is warm, which I guess means temp reading changing from blue to white, but I dunno about break in. I would also have to wonder how new cars under 1k miles tested by the magazines get such good performance numbers if they're restricted unless MB reprograms them for the test.

I would like to know also.

There is a monkey that comes out of the muffler at 1000k and flips a switch for full power.. lol

My car is at 1200 miles and there hasn't been any noticeable difference. I remember because I just put in the 200 miles a couple days ago.

I just hit 1,000 miles. A god damn pig flew out of my muffler onto my windshield. He said something that sounded like “One man,one pig” and flew away! Car seems to rev higher now before upshifting!

I think it was Cletus.
