Congrats!! Car looks great. Hope you enjoy the ride and sound!
Greetings all,
I ordered my sedan back in May. (US, California) FYI as to sedan VS coupe I like the look of the coupe better but need the passenger and trunk space of a sedan.
(Now I regret skipping the Distronic)
I had a huge struggle with the SA. I *really* did not want a black interior. Black seats get way too hot in the sun. I badly wanted tan or grey.
We went round and round the pole but no-go.
The SA claimed that all the US C43s were made in USA. She said it was not possible to customize the interior of a car made in the US.
She also claimed a mid-October to early November delivery.
The car has been built and is being held along with all the other C43 sedans.
All this babble is is leading to three questions:
Is it possible for a US dealer to order custom C43s from Germany?
Can the interior upholstery of the German C43s be modified?
Has ANYONE in the US actually taken delivery of a 2019 C43 sedan? I know some coupes have been delivered.
Thanks.
My SA told me all C43 sedans are made in Alabama, and the coupe are made in Germany. My coupe was made in Germany and I was able to customize everything including the interiors.
I heard the same thing about the US sedans coming from Alabama. I told my SA I wanted Tuscaloosa delivery and some bama football tickets, but sadly that wasn't an option 😑.
I was able to customize a bit of the interior. I selected the carbon fiber trim option for mine and the black seats w/ red stitching.
Drumroll please....
Got this from my SA 2 minutes ago
"Great news!!! I just got an update 10 mins ago that your car is ready to be picked up!! It should be here by Friday. Are you available to come by?"
Cancelling all meetings on Friday. Will post pics or video of The Great Unwrap.
man, congrats bro. I am so jealous but happy that peeps are seeing their whips finally roll through. send out positive vibes for the rest of us to get the same email soon
I am so sorry! I forgot that your car is built in Alabama and it will be on the train for a week to get to California. I just called the distribution center and was told that it went on the train today. After the train arrives LA, it will take a couple days to get on a truck to get here, so the ETA should be within 12 days. When it gets here our technician will need to do testings and the car needs to be detailed, the perpetration work takes ~4hr.

I hope my car doesn't get any perpetration Damn autocorrect. In all seriousness, I feel for you. My car is somewhere in transit. It's just a waiting game now.

This is from 2015, so it might be worth it for a little research into any new changes (Alabam, South Africa, etc.)VIN Character 11: Production Plant

I guess no news for anyone else today? Nothing for me. The wait continues
Negative. My SA is off Thursdays anyway so I probably wouldn't find out until tomorrow regardless. I am checking my dealer's website though. The car is marked "In transit" on there and a few others have come out of that status over the last days or so.

How do you check on the dealers website? If you could guide me that would be great.
Not all dealer sites have it. On the page that shows you the new cars that they have, there is a box indicating that the car is in transit. As a result it lists the car on the bottom after all of the cars that are on the ground. I wouldn't rely on that though. My guess is that someone has to manually update that and it probably lags.
