Lost key

Alright so I messed up and lost one of my keys. Dealer is quoting close to $600 for a replacement. Any other options?

Hmmm... Can keys be reprogrammed? I have a spare from my 17 c43 that was totaled.

Not sure if it can be done. If that is an option, that would be great. Never lost a key so I have no idea how it works. Sorry to hear about your C43 though. What did you replace it with?

No it cannot be done by normal means.

Only very specialized equipment(big bucks) can do these things.

You're only option is the dealer(maybe call several for pricing)

Thanks! I got another one... a 2018 though.

About the key fob...As mentioned above my old fob is basically a paper weight. After a quick google search it appears they are paired for life to the original vehicle..

I think the OP may need to do some research on this. It should come in cheaper than that.

Well, I called atleast 5 dealers in the socal area. The typical range seems to be $500-$600. Guess I just have to deal with it. Lesson learnt!

Maybe you can ask those thieves who have been using that special tool to unlock keyless entry cars

I also lost a key to my 2017 E300 and was quoted $880 from the dealer. That just sounds insane. There must be another way. Anyone?

Have you tried calling Tumbler? I hear he's pretty good at getting Mercedes keys?

$880? Jeez, Louise.

Good reason to not lose your old one.

Should give some locksmiths motivation to sell them for less.

And if you've got an dead or partially working one in a drawer that went through the laundry, get it fixed.
