With the JB4, This might be a foolish question, and I have never tried, but does the engine need to be off or neutral in order for me to safely change maps? Or can the car be moving while i change it?

Haha, no man. I actually meant https://www.n54tuning.com/. Mike works with Terry directly and he is local to me. Much simpler to order.

i was under the impression you could also use the data cable to change maps so I got one instead of the BT unit.... no clue where it plugs into the unit lol.. just got my jb1 a couple days ago... planning to install this weekend

The cable plugs into the VGA-looking end of the cable harness and the USB end into your computer. Therefore you will need to route your connector data cable from the engine bay to the cockpit, which means you will need to have the windows open for the cable to pass through from the hood unless you want to cut/drill something) and a notebook in your lap because the cable is quite short, unless you are with a passenger in which case they can monitor it and start/stop the logging for you.
The engine needs to be on in order for the program to operate and your notebook to detect the JB1

are you opening the box to plug in the data cable? Can’t I just use a USB extension cable and plug it into the USB end of the data cable to get it to my laptop in my seat? And sorry but didn’t actually understand from your response... can you change maps with just the data cable by itself or do you also need the Bluetooth unit?

can you elaborate more on the “vga looking end of the cable harness”? Is it the rainbow, green, purple, or brown wire patches because I can’t physically connect the vga end of the data cable to any of these patches

After I connect the data cable to the unit.. I can then use it to switch maps is that correct?
