For those who pre-ordered 2019 C43, how much discount did you get

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum and am looking to pre-order the 2019 C43 AMG Coupe. This is my first time pre-ordering a car, so I would like to know if there will be any discount and if so, how much will be a good deal? Thanks in advance!

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but you are ordering a car that is a new mdoel. Most MB dealers, atleast the ones in the states are not going to give you a massive discount on a new AMG model that also happens to be an order unit. They will have customers that pay closer to sticker for the first few months until more order allocations open up.

If you have a buddy that works for a dealership that can hook you up, awesome. Otherwise I think you are going to be disappointed when you find that none of the dealers in your area are willing to go much below invoice on an order unit for a new model.

Where you are located will matter as well. Areas that are overpopulated with MB dealers are more willing to negotiate.

Mind posting a copy of your pricing from the dealer?

I ordered my CLA45 from them and waited almost 6 months for it to arrive and they didn't change the value of my trade. I think they will treat me the same this time. If not I'll walk.

What was the decade scheduled/production date for your order? Just curious. Thanks!

Edit: Hoping to negotiate 5-6% on my 2019 sedan, I'd love to get 10% but don't see my dealership going for it honestly haha.

In that case expand your search, cross shop and have it shipped to your place if you find the dealer who can play ball.

You should photoshop your name on his sales menu and take it to your dealer. Tell them to price match it!

I can tell you the coupe, cab and wagon only have 8% margins. 10% is impossible unless there’s some heavy incentive programs going on at the time.

CDN and US margins are not the same.
CDN margins appear to have less "padding" than the US ones hence less room to negotiate down on a CDN deal.

Mine is a sedan in the US so I'm hoping for more leverage once the time comes :fingers crossed:

Yes they are. Sedans are Alabama made and have more margin, but the cost on the German car is the same. I could be wrong but why do you think this?

C43 AMG Coupe
Coupes will not see the same as Sedans. A lot of people here have Sedans. The Coupe will be treated as more limited/expensive. Expect decent discount on sedan, expect close to nothing on coupe.

Production location is a smaller lever than you think. CDN MB cars always have less negotiating room than US MB cars.

If you build a base model on MB Canada and an identical base model on MB USA the Canadian model has an MSRP that is substantially less once you adjust for the currency values. The difference in equivalent MSRP is between 15-20% depending on how you option the vehicle. Base CDN models are nearly 20% cheaper than their US counterparts. Fully loaded, the gap closes to about 15%.

Realistically, what this represents is much more margin built in for dealers in the US market. So a good discount in Canada is much smaller than a good discount in the US because the US base price and US margin are much higher.

What evidence do you base this upon? I think your assessment is incorrect.

I'm planning to upgrade soon and I expect to get about 10% off on a special order 2019 coupe. If I settle for a 2018 I'll demand 12% and I'll get it.
This will be my third special ordered MB vehicle so I'm familiar with the process.

Negotiate the price as a % discount from MSRP before the car arrives. You should walk away if they don't give you at least 8% off. It's easy to get to 8%, getting above 10% takes a bit more effort.

Makes sense. I was looking at it the wrong way - the dealer cost being lower.

When there is a trade involved with the dealer, ALL bets are off as to what the true discount off MSRP truly is
