C43 passenger dies in fatal accident

“On July 17, Collier County Sheriff's Office deputies chased a Mercedes C43 speeding south on State Road 29 near 14th Street. The driver, a 16-year-old girl, lost control of the car, according to a Highway Patrol report. The car went onto a grassy shoulder, struck a wooden sign, two safety bollards and a fire hydrant, then overturned on the shoulder of S.R. 29, the Highway Patrol reported.

The passenger, a 17-year-old boy, was ejected from the car. The driver suffered minor injuries, according to the report. Neither the driver nor the passenger wore a seat belt, FHP reported. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the report states.

The passenger was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital and died Friday, July 20, according to FHP.

The driver faces charges of reckless driving and driving without a license — charges related only to the crash investigation, FHP reported.“

perhaps its a good idea to wear seatbelts

it’s also a good idea not to let a 16 yo drive your Merc

so so sad and needless

Its the only reason that Princess Diana's bodyguard survived the car crash over 20 years ago and she died along with her partner both of which were not wearing seat belts.
