Hi guys, what's up. I own a C450 AMG. It has been working great, but recently I found that my car's backfire has disappeared. In S+ or any mode, I no longer hear the explosion of the exhaust pipe.
The entire car was working properly and there were no fault lights. I can't find out why... anyone can help?

one day I returned to the car and the screen wouldn’t switch on. When I started driving the backfires had stopped. I called MB tried a few things and they didn’t work. Screen came back in next day and the backfires followed about a week later. Originally Posted by Johnny915

I should ask - did you refuel recently? MB told me that the car can be affected if you don’t tighten the fuel cap properly.

Well i"m interested in what stopped the backfires...but for a different reason. I am one of the folks in the minority who really doesn't like the pops and crackles from my 2019 C43 with PE . If there's a way to eliminate them without affecting drivability or performance, and not throw any codes, I''d be a happy camper. Subscribed to this thread.
Okay... A little update here, the backfire just came back this evening(yeh!!!).
I still don't know what caused the backfire disappearance, but I am boldly guessing that there is a problem with gasoline. I have always been a big fan of SHELL, but In the past few weeks, I tried the NO. 91 gasoline FROM 76. It doesn't take long, maybe only a few days later, the backfire sound disappeared and the car accelerated to become negative.
I didn't say that the gas from 76 is bad for our AMG model, butttt I won't try any no.91 gasoline from 76. Never!
Before the backfire came back tonight, I have completed three refuelings, they all come from the shell. If your backfire sound disappeared, try replacing the gasoline. If it doesn't work, pls go to the dealer (I just canceled the plan for tomorrow... backfire is really back on time).

i have run 91 on my turbo cars and never had an issue, not even with the 450.

Ok, since it's the same octane, it's ok. Could be the quality of the fuel itself then. The C43 is originally made for 98 octane (RON) which is equal to 93 octane in the US (and Canada, I suppose). But I guess the engine is adjusted/adapted to the fuel available where it was sold.Originally Posted by Skim450

Yeah I too own a c450 our pops and crackles come and goes, this is very odd. Sometimes it’s extremely loud and there r times that it doesn’t make a single pop at all. I still couldn’t figure out why tho🥲

Based on his baller ride, along with his history of 26,259 posts, I think we are out-gunned.
Think of an angry old man whose real life is sitting in front of his 15 year old Dell desktop while getting-off by trolling folks on the internet.
That said, I will concede that his CLS is probably a real a home run with the babes; at least when he rolls up at the local assisted living facility.

You're spot on young fella. My assisted living facility is a really great place. I don't hate on you for being young; we've all been there Originally Posted by ////AMG_C43
