Noticed it early on with my 2019. To be quite honest, I thought the pipes being painted on the inside to be strange in the first place.
I removed the paint with lacquer thinner and to my eye they look better than the original factory finish.
The outer shells are black chrome and the inner portions are natural stainless steel.

did just use a cloth and paint thinner to remove? Want tips. I tried but the paint is pretty thick
I just used a old terry cloth towel and Duplicolor automotive lacquer thinner. It will not just wipe off, the paint must be saturated with the thinner in order to break it down. It probably took 20 - 30 minutes of saturating and rubbing to remove it all.

Did you do any masking of the outer tips? Or is that unnecessary?
I’ve had the car since December, i was wondering if anyone else exhaust paint chipping too. Is this normal wear and tear or should I take it to the dealership To get it fix?
Exact same thing here on my 6 month old c43. And it pisses me off royally.
How long did it take? I'm in the process of organising an appointment and would like to know if I should expect short job waiting there or getting the loaner for the full day.
Not exclusive the C class, looks like it’s pervasive to all models.
3/4 of the tips on my e53 coupe already chipped badly too after 7500kms. Brought it into dealer today and they said they’ll most likely replace these (apparently need to check with the regional group first).

I realize they are inexpensive, but are they 'cheap' too? I would consider replacing whatever tape they may provide with a superior product that could do the job.
