C43 Cabriolet - Ugly Aluminium Trim
Hi, I am new to the Mercedes Family. I have ordered and spec'd to the max, full options the C43 AMG Convertible. I chose everything black, black optics package, obsidian black paint, black napa leather. However I was disappointed to see that where the soft top presses onto the car is brushed aluminium. It is very noticeable on a black car and something I want to "delete". I am talking to the dealer about wrapping the brushed aluminum for about $500. I think its worth it to make it look more special, however I am worried about the durability of the wrap, how do I clean it? Will it get damaged by the soft top? Does anyone have experience here?

I think my preference would be to go for a matte black. I don’t want a shiny gloss black since it will look like I’m trying to match the car paint. They will never look the same. Better to have a clear distinction. Do you think vinyl wrap will do the job? How long will it last?

I saw your post yesterday, but I'm not familiar enough with the cabs or the components. Can you post a picture of the area you're referring to? If there's minimal contact beyond washing, vinyl is very durable these days. The only concern with matte is brightening/polishing over time with washing, but there are special products to help with that.
Many people here have wrapped the chrome trim pieces that aren't blacked out from the factory with gloss and they look great, even upon close up inspection.

Vinyl is not a perfect match to paint, but depending on how picky you are, it is going to get you very close. I would say it is about a 90-95% match. For something as small as trim pieces, it is usually a lesser issue. Usually if you are doing much larger areas of the car, such as roof, hood, trunk, etc, then it is more noticeable.

Ah, I see now. Several on here have wrapped the window trim on coupes and sedans. Even the trim on the night package isn't a perfect match to the black on the body. You'd be fine wrapping from my perspective.

The whole point was to find a convertible that was 4x4 for Swiss mountain roads in the winter. I know the coupe is nice looking, but I don't see the point. For me you have a convertible or you get yourself an SUV like the GLC. Coupe is impractical and doesn't give the open air experience of a convertible.

I took it to an auto wrapping shop recently to black out the front grill and the emblems and they have quoted me 400 to wrap that "belt molding" trim for my 2020 cab. They have wrapped one in the past and said there were no hiccups at all. I haven't made a decision yet but I would definitely go with matte black as well for my polar white. I cannot seem to find anyone that has done this already.. would love to see videos or pictures if available!

Has anyone done this? I'm looking at the A205s coming from a W208 and I -hate- the round look of the rear that is further emphasized by the chrome trim. I figure blacking it out or replacing it would mitigate that and might give it a sharper look but obviously I'd love to see what it looks like first!
