Moisture freezing around sunroof seal and cracking/popping
- In December, drove the car in heavy snow.
- Parked car in warm garage overnight.
- Drove in cold, dry conditions the next day.
- Residual moisture left on roof froze around the sunroof seal, resulting in loud creaking, cracking, and popping noises on the roof that could be heard from the cabin when driving. Happened on 2 separate occasions.
I've lived through dozens of Indiana winters and have never once noticed this issue before on any other cars, except my C43. Have had the C43 for 2 winters, and this behavior is "new." Anybody else in a similar climate ever notice this?
Note: This car has had a myriad of issues, and I have the option of exiting the vehicle at no cost (so long as I purchase/lease a new Mercedes), or ride it out for for another year and leave the brand. If this sunroof issue is a "unique" issue, I don't think I can take this car anymore lol.
My roof only acts up when there are little strands and ribbons of ice freezing around the weatherstripping in 2 locations: where the top of the windshield meets the roof and the periphery of the sunroof.
I mean, I see the logic of how that situation could produce noise, but because I've never noticed it with any other car, I'm leaning toward the noise being an unwanted anomaly, as this should be a problem that is accounted for when designing/engineering/testing the car.

All that said, to clarify, my issue only appears when precipitation freezes at the aforementioned locations, and I have the regular sunroof, not the pano roof.
