Changing C to F

Bought a 2018 C43 coupe from a dealer up in Mt. Vernon Washington. The car was imported from Canada, a one owner low mileage lease return. We thought it was a great deal (it was much less than the us versions), however, there are many items which are just not available...that we know of. The free nav updates are proving difficult with the dealer, Mercedes ME and mbrace are essentially not available. My wife is irritated by the C in the climate control vs F. Thought it would be an easy switch as the KPH to MPH, I was wrong. The dealer hooked up the Xentry tool and we found the screen where this can be done and it was greyed out, asking for a password. Mercedes does not have the password?! The dealer called another dealer and was told I need to go through customs. Has anyone had success changing this? I am looking for at least a little win for the lady!

Let me know if you find something. For some reason, MB decided that the temperature unit shouldn't be changed. I would actually like to change it from F to C. I grew up with C, and F doesn't do much for me, other than a few reference temps. It's ok for climate control, but the engine etc. temps in F mean nothing to me. This is something I really miss from my Audis, where all the units could be changed easily in the vehicle settings, but on MBs only km/miles can be changed even in the FL. I complained to MBUSA about it and asked them to consider a software update, but their answer was the temperature unit is fixed to the prevailing unit in the given country. So F for US spec models and C for Canadian spec models for example. Even while I was doing European Delivery, they didn't set it to C. I might try to ask my dealer during the next service if they can change it, and see what they say. I didn't think of that.

There is another thread here that Google found for me. It is older cars so not sure if it is locked down on our cars or not. My 08 55 has it right in the control cluster. Definitely keep you in the loop if I find any success getting this changed.

The thread is here for reference: https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...s-cluster.html

Bye chance did you purchase your coupe from Motorcars Limited? If so pretty much all their cars are brought in from Canada. Was interested in a car they had but didn't want to deal with exactly what your going through.

yes, that is the place. Great price, however, at a cost. They ‘lost’ one of the keys, in addition to all the features we can not utilize listed in my first post. The change to F should be done by the importer of the vehicles is what I am being told. Called Canada yesterday and will be calling the DOT import division today. They also asked who the dealer was.
