My C43 comes with the AMG performance exhaust and yesterday, after turning on the car, leaving it in Comfort mode and driving for a few minutes, I noticed that the flap was opened. I clicked the exhaust button to turn it "on" then clicked it again to turn it "off" but the flap remained open. It was very obvious because turning it on or off did not change the sound at all. After about 30 minutes of driving, I noticed that it closed itself off somehow. I then clicked the exhaust button to open the flap again and now it sounds like it's opened as expected. I drove the car again this morning and the exhaust flap works normally again.
Has anyone experienced this or know what happened? Everything works again so I'm okay with that but I wonder if this is something I should bring up when I go into service my car, since there could be a connection issue or the flap is mechanically starting to fail or something.
usually if you can't replicate it in front of them, they won't do much. Could of been loose debris that was making the flap stuck. Maybe shine a light through it on visibly inspect it first?

Ah, good point on being able to replicate the issue. I'll shine a light through...the fake tips...and then through the actual exhaust pipe to see.
what fake tips, its a full AMG exhaust, not fake exhaust like Audi S4
I guess there are two types of fake exhaust since 2019.
First is 2020 fake (completely fake, the actual tips you can't see through it)
the other is fake while still being able to see the actual exhaust through it.

wait what lol. i thought its a real full exhaust in 2020, if you buy the addon AMG exhaust with the electronic open values? Even the dealer says its a real exhaust and not fake
It's fake in the sense that the tips are attached to the bumper and not the actual exhaust. The exhaust stops short of the tips, and looks like it's not actually quad exhaust as the tips make you believe. This does have some advantages. The tips stay cleaner and it actually allows for louder exhausts because the noise levels have to be met at a certain distance from the tips, but because the actual exhaust is shorter it's further away from where things are measured, so the exhaust can be louder. The C63 has the same "fake" tips, but an actual quad exhaust behind it.

That's what I always thought. I had seen the fake quad tips on other AMG-like cars but wasn't sure about the c43. Couldn't imagine a six cylinder needing a quad exhaust unless it was an m3 or a car producing 400+.
Does the 63 have real quad exhaust on both performance and non-performance exhausts?

Its really a dual system going to quad at the rear mufflers, as with most road cars. And the quad in the rear is really to mix loud with soft via the flaps on the loud side of the muffler.

I believe so. The differences are internal. Not sure who ever bought a C63 without the performance exhaust. The performance exhaust is even standard now as of 2019, at least in the USA. Figured nobody ever ordered it with standard exhaust.

That's true. It's dual up to the rear mufflers/resonators, but there are actually two chambers in them and two pipes feeding into one before it goes back to quad tips. They are even shaped differently. One is square and the other one is round, must be to shape the desired sound. But since there are only two turbos, there are only two exhaust streams. Wouldn't make much sense to break them up into four.

Yes, I meant the 2020 C43 exhaust tips are fake because it's actually a dual exhaust, not quad like the tips would lead you to believe. I personally dislike this implementation since it's technically fake. I would prefer it more if it was connected and just splits into 4, but in this case the 4 exhausts tips are completely disconnected from the real 2 exhausts.
I don't mind it now if it looks good. Audi's started doing it, and I thought it was stupid as hell, but I realized the tips stay so clean lol. I personally think it looks good, stays clean, **** it, its not that bad anymore. Do the aftermarket exhausts all stop before the fake tips or go all the way through?
