Ordering brake pads online

Hello,

It’s about time for me to replace my front brake pads so I headed over to the Mercedes dealership and asked them the price for a set of front brake pads and wear sensor. They told it would cost around $350 CAD. Idk about you but that’s seems a little pricey. When looking online I found AutohausAZ which ships to Canada and for almost $350 I could get literally 2 sets and 2 sensors for around the same price..... any experience with that website?

Have yet to replace my brakes on my c43 but I do regularly order from rockauto for my other vehicles, ship to Canada also.

And why are you ordering 2 sets? All pads from most manufacturers comes in both left and right pairs. You only need to buy 1.

And if you don't like massive brake dust that we all enjoy cleaning off on daily basis, try the ceramic pads.

Also, there are only 2 brake pad sensors on the whole car. Front and rears, on the passenger side IIRC.

Why go for OEM? I haven't pushed the car enough to feel brake fade, but why not go for a bit more aggressive pads and maybe with less dust?

A gaggle of MB's
If someone has not has a problem with OE brakes - then sticking with OE is fine.

Yes - Autohaus AZ is totally legitimate - often OE Mercedes parts will be shipped in plain packaging and not MB parts boxes.

If Autohaus says it's the OE parts - then they are the Mercedes OE part...

There are a "lot" of other internet sources - that when they say "OE Mercedes Part" - they really mean a China/India aftermarket part that "fits like original".

Keep the beat !

The OEM pads are pretty good imo, never had a problem with them. The dust isn’t that big of a deal I mean I clean my car pretty often and the rims more often. Any recommendations for a better pad?

I ordered my brakes, rotors, and sensors from mymbgenuineparts.com. Like others have said, each order comes as a set and there is only one sensor per axle (2 total for the car). The front (000-420-49-00) and the rear (000-420-59-00) are two different numbers. My local shop recommended to always replace the rotors when replacing the brakes so I did that as well. They also recommended akebono brake pads, but I already ordered the OEM ones.

Totally unnecessary unless tracking. Might want to find a better shop.

Just need to check the minimum thickness. But compared to other OEM brands that lasts over 100k+ kms, no reason these thick, heavy, expensive rotors only lasts 2 years/40k kms/25k miles when pads needs replacement.

I’d stay away from that shop if they told you to replace rotors with the pads... also replacing pads/rotors isn’t a difficult job to do I wouldn’t goto a shop unless you’re not mechanically inclined at all.

I couldn’t find front pads for the 2017 C43 that were made by Akebono, only the rear pads for some reason
