Speed limits on the Navigation map

Hey guys,

I have a 2019 C43 coupe and my navigation doesn't show the speed limits but I know that the new ones do and even my gf's 2018 Mazda 3 shows the speed limits. I tried searching through the menus and I don't see that option. Was it just not available for the 2019 model year?

Thanks!

Yes, it was available and the speed limits do show, but I believe only if you have the Driver Assistance package which recognizes the speed limit signs via the cameras and displays the actual speed limit, falling back to the map data if no speed limit sign was detected for a while.

I have a ‘17 with the Driver Assist package and it does show the speed limit. Recently, a lot of the speed limit signs have been raised on the streets here in l.a. from 35mph to 40mph. My cameras have probably gone blind, because my navi still shows 35mph limit on these 40mph signs.

The '17 and PFL as a whole doesn't have camera based traffic sign recognition as far as I know, so what you see are the speed limits from the map data. This is probably why they got rid of this in the later models unless the car is equipped with Traffic Sign Recognition, because the map based speed limits are often wrong and don't account for temporary speed limits due to construction etc.

Just double-checked the PFL owners manual and I was right. See below. The Traffic Sign Assist is purely map based in the '17. In contracts, Traffic Sign Assist in the FL models is camera based and the map data is only used as a backup.

Thanks for the clarification, guys. It's too bad...My friend's Audi TT without the adaptive cruise still shows the speed limits. ;'(

Different makes/models do options and bundling different. MB decided to roll up all the assistance features under a single package. With Audi you often have to get the Prestige trim to get this stuff or also a separate driver assist package depending on the model. The TT actually doesn't have many assist features and only one trim. Adaptive cruise can't even be ordered at all with the TT. The only option you can add is side assist, which our cars have standard. It comes down to making sure you order the car with the proper trim and options to get all the features you want. MB generally includes all the safety assist features standard such as side assist etc., which Audi doesn't always make standard on all their models, e.g. the TT.

Has anyone found a way to install simple speed limit data via map software? I have a 2018 GLE 43 without adaptive cruise control (Distronic)

Though it doesn't apply in your case, the country to which your car was delivered can also affect this option. E.G., it was (maybe still is) not available in Canadian-delivered models while it was in US-delivered models (even though they come out of the same factory). I'm guessing there's some legal-based reasoning for this.
