Angry C 450 AMG 2016 popping sounds gone

Took my C 450 AMG in today because the controlled popping sounds from the exhaust went away in sport + mode. Mercedes is saying that there was a software update and now the C 450 does not make that popping sound any more. Is this true?

C450 doesn't have over the air update. There is update for ECU and TCU for C43 that one user said car shifts alot smoother but less jerky without pops and bangs. But need to bring your car in to the shop for that.

My dad had his 2018 GLC 43 brought into the dealer for that jerkiness in first gear. They performed an ECU update and the sound of the car is noticeably more quiet now, especially compared to my 2017 C43. The dealer thought I was legitimately crazy when i suggested it was the update that did this...

I can say that there is a noticeable difference in my exhaust tone from my 2018 C43 to my 2021 C43 and it is very disappointing. I otherwise love the car over the 2018, got more of what I wanted in options and the facelift is great. I just don't have that same grin as I did before when it was given some beans. Eat the beans, make the sound. I hope that it is not because of the 1st gas pedal gear jerk (Sport +) that MB will use for an excuse. Because honestly I would take the 1st jerk back over losing the sound. At least with the gas pedal jerk, I learned how to drive the car wen rolling so that it did not happen. Honestly I think the car was faster because of, disclaimer my butt told me that, nothing else. But I understand how the gas pedal jerk can be scary, it was for the first few times on the 2018. And that is a problem for someone who is not use to it. There is still some jerkiness on downshift into 1st but not nearly what it was before and I have not been able to replicate the gas pedal jerkiness in the 2021. Hope someone at MB comes to their senses and issues a US variant of the update for the exhaust tones.

Yep - I would rather live with the jerkiness as well. I got my C43 after my dad had his GLC43 so i knew that this was a possibility for the same jerkiness. It just requires a bit of managing the throttle in sports+ in first gear.

I would encourage everyone who feels this way about the reduced exhaust tones and characteristic should contact MB Customer Support. I did so using this link: https://mercedes-benz.custhelp.com/app/ask. I did receive a prompt response that my comments would be shared with Product Management Team. It is what I except for a first contact email but perhaps some more inquires can help more the process in the right direction.

I will submit something. That performance exhaust sound is probably the best feature of the car and a best in class sound if you ask me... Quite shocking Mercedes would oversee this detail in their ECU updates...
