Has anyone ever used VP Octanium Octane Booster? Given I'm in Ontario, canada i cannot get ethanol to be able to move up to map 4 on my jb4. I've been stuck running 12.2's and would like to break into the 11's. Given its just a couple tenths im so close that a map change and some fuel additives help should in theory help me get there. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with it.
Yes thought about that route too...so many mixed reviews on them though from sound to actually performance gains its tough to decide not mention the price tag..but i guess you gotta pay to play..lol
I have never seen any articles or research of any kind that says these octane boosters have any impact on octane..Why not source out some race gas?
Actually, there have been quite a few tests of octane boosters, with successful results. You can't buy the trash ones that you find at your local parts store, those are definitely not going to get it done. Boostane is a good octane booster. There are folks on here that have used it, to include the fastest JB4 only C43. You can find Youtube videos on the product, from sources other than the manufacturer. Here are a couple to get you and the original poster started. Background: there's a Dodge Demon owner that calls his channel "Demonology". He does a lot of racing and a lot of dyno comparisons. The Demon is equipped with an ECU that lets you change to High Octane mode, if it detects a high enough octane level (Above pump gas). It allowed him to go into high octane race mode with Boostane, so it did detect a significant increase in octane level.
Here's a link to a video where he compares Boostane to three separate racing fuels, on the Dyno. Spoiler, Boostane beat them all on the dyno. Jump to 8:45 to skip all the lead in.
Had to add one more thing. If all that someone does is add an octane booster, they won't improve performance, unless their car was already retarding timing to fight detonation. The extra octane allows a person to add more boost without detonation, thereby giving the added horsepower. I know you probably realize that, I just wanted to make sure everyone who reads the thread does as well.

"Too high" wouldn't make you go slower, but I think that Burger says that on map 3, you can run 93. A little more octane won't hurt you. The octane rating of fuel shows resistance to combustion. You'll hear older or inexperienced people say that they ran a higher octane pump gas to "Clean everything out". No such thing happened. The compression ratio of a motor determines if it needs a higher octane. NA motors can certainly require premium, but most don't. Forced induction motors should always have higher octane. 87 octane, for instance, wants to detonate earlier, so if you put that in a low compression motor, say 8:1, then it will be perfectly happy. If you put it in an 11:1 motor, you'll start having issues, unless the computer is capable of pulling a lot of timing. Either way, you get crap performance. Every motor's size is how much the swept area of the cylinder is, (The stroke), times the diameter, (The bore). The compression ratio is how much that much air and fuel is compressed at the top of the piston's travel. Compression creates heat. Heat creates detonation, sometimes before the spark is ready. If you detonate the air/fuel load early, the piston is still moving upward, while the explosion is trying to force it down. That is what breaks motors. Turbocharging a motor creates even more compression. That's why you have to run fuel that doesn't want to detonate easily. It's also why, your motor is lower compression, and managed by a computer, to do things that motors 50 years ago couldn't do. You can't run "too much" octane, but you can waste a lot of money running a higher level of octane than your motor requires. Always better to be higher vs. lower.

yes, But like said in the video the Demon was tuned with a 100 octane. So getting the fuel mixture closest to 100 with make the most power. So for my case with the jb4 map 3 requiring 93, I would have made optimal power with fuel mixture close to 93 rather than around 98-100 which I had in my tank, correct?

that's provided the "93" you are running is actually 93. Fuel deteriorates, additives change throughout the year, etc... all impacting the actual rating. As per previous post, better to run a bit higher to be safe and running a higher than required will not slow you down but just cost you more.

As mentioned map 3 is set for 93 octane fuel...if you choose to go above that, it is your choice. You may not see benefits from the increase in octane unless you were having detonation issues that was pulling timing while running Map 3 with the 93 octane fuel. Now if you were having detonation and timing was being pulled, adding additional octane may help reduce or remove that and thus receive a bump in power.

Yes I have access to E85. This time I just use Boostane with 5gallons of 91
