snow tires for 2020 C43 AMG coupe; staggered?

Hey all, looking to get snow tires. Currently have the stock all-season 225/40 F, 255/35 R staggered setup.

I was thinking about saving money by purchasing 225/40 tires for all 4 wheels rather than staggered snow tires. I'm looking at the Pirelli Sottozero 3 tires. The garage I spoke to said they'd fit, but that I would "lose the benefits of performance handling on the AMG with the less wide tires all the way around. But if you go into it knowing this then this can be offset with driving."

Is that true? What does that even mean? I know little about this but had read that in general, narrower tires are apparently better in the snow.

cheers

Get the narrower snow tires. I've always been told that narrower tires bite better in snow than wider tires.

I've got the same size winter tire all round on 18in rims.

Are you planning on getting separate rims for the winter tires?

Yeah I've just started thinking about getting them w/ separate rims, and going with a smaller rim (I have 19s; thinking about 18s).

Where did you buy your winter tires? When I try using 1010tires & Canadian Tire's websites they seem to have trouble b/c of the default staggered setup of my car.

TireRack has this recommended package:

Sport Edition WX9 wheels
Size: 18X8
Offset: 30mm

Vredestein Wintrac Pro 225/45R18 XL 95W

But how do I know that will work, that they're compatible sizes with my car?

It should fit, I just researched a snow tire setup as well. I’ll be going with Fast FC04 wheels, also 18x8+30 and Nexen winters. There’s a few pictures on here with other owners running the same setup or the same size wheels.

Can check Quattro Tires as well.

They test fit the wheels, the ones they put online are the only ones that fit that they sell

I didn't want to spend the big bucks for the OEM package, so my MB sales rep recommended Aurora Tire (http://www.auroratire.ca/), they have packages for C43's: http://www.auroratire.ca/promotional...ges-2015-2019/

I got Nokian Tyres Hakkapeliitta R5 as I figure the Finns know snow. I've had them on my passed 2 MB E-Class wagons, very happy with the performance.

The other bonus with tires of the same size is you can rotate them.

I run the stock staggered size Sottozero tires on 19" Enkei Raijin wheels. Narrower snow tires DO work better, and next time I have to buy snow tires I'll just put the narrow, same size front and rear on some 18" wheels.

I bought oem rims with snow tire package for my 2018 when I first purchased it back in 2019. The Mercedes snow tire package was 18 inch rims, et33 on front and 4- something on rear. All 4 tires were the same, width at 225. That package was listed on the Mercedes’ Canada website at the time as well. Hope that clears things up.

I have my 18" oem rims for my winter setup with Pirelli sotozero 3 225/45/18 all around. No issues with performance or handling characteristics. Going on 2nd winter with these. Hard to get it to spin in any kind of weather... great traction. Tires are very quiet

Shop is saying the 18 5 Star Wheel won't Fit

So the shop I have the car at just called to tell me that the 18 won't fit over the break on my C43 Coupe. I'm puzzled. Does anyone know if this is just a spacer issue ?

I'm not sure why 18s won't fit on your coupe, maybe coupes are different?
I have a 2021 C43 Wagon with 18in rims, no spacers. Here are some pictures:

My Nexen’s on Fast Wheels have worked for me so far! 😁 My baby needs a bath really badly though. I think I need some factory style mud guards and side skirts to keep the sides cleaner.

This might sound dumb but I was wondering would I still have air pressure 36 front and 32 back. Or 36 all around now if I go same width tires?

Same, that said, use the cold tire pressures on the fuel cap door.
