The Stealership!! 2023 Edition

This is for a C400 with 40,000 miles on it. I tried to buy it before it went
thru their absurd conditioning and mark up but they declined.

They would not show me the inspection report.

Keep in mind transmission service nor plugs were done. Plugs nearing mileage to be changed.
  • Four tires were $1580.56.
  • Alignment $199.95.
  • Brake fluid flush is $235.34.
  • Air filter is $234.84.
  • Cabin filter $192.50.
  • Gas cap for $86.75.
  • Certified pre-owned inspection is $275. ( It's not eligible)
  • Detail $275.
  • Misc shop fees. Not listed
Grand total $2,870.38.

Tire price seems a bit steep, but the rest looks about right from a dealership price standpoint. Gotta pay to play, especially if you understand the business model of a dealership and how little they make on the sale of cars.

Every car is different. Depends on what they paid for it. Sometimes they make good money. This dealer replaced what they make the
most on mark up. It still needs transmission service and plugs. Never heard of a gas cap being replaced at that mileage.

Tires are robbery....

I'll probably pass. 2 minor accidents on front right according to CARFAX. Assuming it was minor.

Still needs transmission service and plugs will need a change soon. Plugs I could do.

They wanted $785 for plugs. Thick as thieves.

They're still not transparent with fees.
$1,1198.00 for pre-delivery?
388.00 taxable fee
400.00 non-taxable fee.

Nah.

It does have most options including dynamic headlights and park assist (just wanted the warning before I hit a parking block).
The vinyl interior I'm not excited about. The seats wear out with jeans.

Probably just get a C450 instead. It will be higher mileage 70-80 miles.

Here was the dealers response:

The $388 is title transfer. The $400 is a general estimation of tag work. $1195 is our doc fee (as it’s know elsewhere/ we call it a pre delivery fee.
It costs about $255-ish to register a car myself. Criminals!

You got rinsed brother.

Find a good European indy shop for future repairs out of warranty.

I did not pay that. That's the dealers's reconditioning itemization for a used car I'm looking at.

It takes maybe 20 mins to replace cabin and engine air filters. LOL.

Asking $24,795

They claim it's not built into the retail price.

I have a good indy shop here.
