Easy oil solenoid mod for increased oil flow

C450 AMG
Taped over both connector & receiving port, with zip tying the connector to the IC hose. Pretty simple. It took them more time to remove and re-install the belly pans/shrouds. The tech asked me to verify the plug/connector before we pulled it...dropped the car down to verify with the scan tool...ta-da~
I guess I should execute the cooling mod next...

I see, sounds like it should be well protected and yes, the coolant pump mod is a good mod as well.

Just did this

Just joined this forum this week.. Came across this thread and did it today. I just took it to my mechanic and had him do it since I don't have a jack to get under my car.

I forwarded this thread to them and they agreed to do it. Quick one hour in and out, no issues!

Thanks to everyone for the information! I'll follow up with anything noteworthy.

It should be noted that the two stages of the oil pump are NORMAL pressure and LOW pressure. There is no HIGH pressure stage. I know this is nitpicking, but important to understand. The failsafe is that the solenoid defaults to NORMAL pressure if it malfunctions as long as the malfunction is not caused by debris in dirty oil (i.e., long change intervals). Since the default is NORMAL pressure (that is based on engine rpm), arguments that the so called "high pressure" overly stresses the oil pump are unfounded and merely someone's contrarian viewpoint.
