Aftermarket Panamericana Grilles: OEM Accuracy vs Camera Compatibility (Pictures)

I’ve searched everywhere and tried multiple grilles, and it’s honestly surprising that with this level of demand, no one has produced a truly high-quality replica that matches OEM—especially with the correct matte horizontal spokes. I’m aiming for something as close to OEM as possible without the hassle of swapping to a C63 bumper, since I have the facelift model. Anyone who pays attention to detail will understand the difference.

One thing I’ve learned: there are specific design cues to look for. On the back of the grille, you should see “C-cuts” behind the vertical slats—that’s a strong indicator of something closer to OEM quality.

The first shop I went to installed a really poor-quality part. The camera alignment was off, it had six vertical slats coming out from the center emblem (incorrect), and there were no C-cuts at all. It also threw off the 360° camera lines. See below.

Then I noticed the same shop installing different grilles on other cars, where the vertical bars extended much further outward and the camera sat noticeably more forward. From what I could tell, those setups were likely for pre-facelift models.

After doing more research, I came across MBHouse—they confirmed the 360° camera would function properly and that their grille includes the correct C-cut design, however look at the vertical lines …

Here’s what I’m running now—and to be fair, everything works properly. But if you look closely, the horizontal slats (the black ones, not the chrome) aren’t as thick or wide as OEM.

After digging further, I found another set of grilles that seem much closer to OEM spec. They have the proper C-cuts on the back, noticeably wider/thicker horizontal slats, and slightly thicker vertical bars as well. My only concern is whether switching to this style might impact the 360° camera functionality.

Visually, I do prefer the wider horizontal lines—it actually makes a big difference when you’re looking at the car head-on.

Has anyone run into this before or know exactly what I’m referring to?

I’ve included angles of both grilles so you can compare how far they protrude and the thickness of the vertical and horizontal elements. You’ll also notice the newer grille looks a bit more “boxy” in the vertical slats compared to the one I currently have.

The part number on this recent one I found

Looking for some input from anyone who’s gone deep on grille swaps—especially around the small OEM details and 360° camera compatibility.

I’ve been through a few options trying to get as close to OEM as possible (facelift model), and I’m starting to realize how much the little things matter. My current grille works fine—no issues with the 360 camera—but the horizontal slats are noticeably thinner than OEM, and once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

Now I’ve found another version that looks much closer to OEM:
  • Has the proper C-cuts behind the vertical slats
  • Wider/thicker horizontal lines (big visual difference head-on)
  • Slightly thicker vertical bars, “boxy” look

My hesitation is the camera. The current setup works perfectly, but I’ve already had a bad experience with a cheap grille messing up alignment and 360 lines. This new one looks right from a design standpoint, but I’m not sure if that translates to proper sensor/camera positioning in reality.

A few questions for anyone who’s done this:
  • Have you found a replica that truly matches OEM proportions (especially horizontal slat thickness)?
  • Did switching to a more OEM-accurate grille affect your 360° camera at all?
  • Are the C-cuts + camera housing position the main things to look for, or is there more to it?

I’ve attached comparison angles so you can see the difference in how far they stick out and the thickness of the slats.

Appreciate any insights—this is one of those details that probably only a few people care about, but it makes a big difference if you’re paying attention.
