2015 AMG C63S
Should I Lemon Law my new C63S?

I've owned my new 2015 C63S for 107 days. In that time, it has been back to the dealer 4 times spanning 20 days with the following issues:

Pull to the right (all 4 visits)
When letting go of the wheel on any type of road, flat or crowned results in a lazy pull to the right that will put you entirely into the next lane within about 3 seconds. First time bringing the car in for this, an alignment was done. The second time, I asked for a balance as the car was still wandering to the right. They checked the alignment and said it was in spec and that nothing else needed to be done and refused to balance it because I wasn't complaining of vibration. I then took it to a tire store to have it balanced and they noticed the tires were about 15PSI too low. They had 31/36 on the Dunlops and the tires were out of balance. This didn't fix the pull to the right. I brought it back and the Service Director explained that cars with wider tires, especially AMG cars, are more susceptible to radial steer and that no AMG would stay straight on a crowned road. Nothing is being done to fix this.

Add qt. oil notification (all 4 visits)
Taking it in initially, the service tech noted that the oil ring was wet, but didn't notice actual leaking. Manual oil check shows normal. Brought back in to have oil ring replaced. Problem persisted, brought back to the shop again. At first, the Service Director tells me that it's "normal" to have to add a quart of oil to AMG vehicles every "10,000 miles," but I argued that this car didn't even have 1,000 when the first message appeared and it's shown up dozens of times since hitting my current 4,800 miles. After arguing it wasn't normal, I was asked to take a picture the next time the message comes up and to take it back in for servicing.

Break Squeal
I'm told it's normal for performance breaks, but it sounds ghetto, especially for a car this expensive. I don't remember hearing high pitched break squeal at the track.... Nothing is being done to fix this. The dealer assures me that it's "normal."

Drivers side vanity light shorts when adjusting visor
Fixed

Excessive wind noise at 70+ mph (especially with crosswind)
I asked them to check out the W205 German bulletin for the same issue, but my dealer assures me it doesn't affect my model. Meanwhile, the road noise is considered "acceptable" by the dealer and nothing is being done.

For 85k, I don't think it's too much to ask for a car that goes straight and doesn't ask me to add oil every week.

Should I...
Work through these issues with the dealer?
Find a new service department and work through the issues?
Return the car and get a refund?
Exchange the car for a new one?

I don't know if this is normal or if I've got a lemon on my hands...

I love my c63s, but if this is going to be how it goes with this car, I'd rather be driving something else.

Thoughts?

C63s
MB service centers has not been too good aligning my car I had to take it to a specialized high end shop to get it done right, also look at your tires it may be worn on one side since you take it to the track.
Oil consuption is normal on new high output turbo cars, the turbos are lubricated with engine oil, the pistons and rings take a longer time to build the seal specially if only use syntetic oil,
You probably crystalize your brake pads for heavy breaking on the track
Need to chage or upgrade your brakes.
For wind noise turn up your radio volume.

Enjoy your car

There is another thread on this but when you got the message to add oil did you check the level with the dip stick and if so was it REALLY low or not???

The brake squeal is 100% normal...so is the oil consumption considering the turbos.

The whole pull to the right thing, idk. Don't think you should lemon it though.

There is no correlation between turbos and oil use, high performance cars burn oil period. I suggest the op gets a e60 m5, I hear those don't burn any oil.

For the sake of argument, you lemon the car and get a new C63. Brake squeal, oil consumption will be present on your new car. I had to add a quart with a 1000 miles on the clock last june...

WTF? These aren't even real issues. Trade it in for a E500?

High performance motors can burn oil on break in. Wide tires tramline (put a 255/35ZR19 on the rear if it's bothering you). 15' brakes make noise and it's not 'ghetto' it's safe - go to any racetrack with street cars and that's all you'll hear. You can swap for low dust pads that stop worse and it may quiet down. There's no aero problem with the car. You sound like you're just not a high performance car guy.

Its brand new and under warranty so I would let them work with it first before jumping into a legal case. That is a lot of issues for a new car. Work them out first then worry about it is what I would do.

W203 C230 SPORT
1.) Not sure how much it's pulling to the right, but that's an MB/AMG thing. My 2006 C230 Sport DD will go in a straight line if I hold the wheel dead center, but if I let go of the wheel, it will slowly veer to the right. I've had my DD for 10 years, and recently just got a new wheel/tire setup. Though I have no idea why, every MB/AMG is designed this way.

This issue is entirely normal.

2.) The rest of the issues, IMO, are also typical of a high performance car. I'm waiting patiently for the FL'ed C205 C63S AMG Coupe (woo, 4 years wait time!), which will be my weekend toy. I'm already expecting to top off the oil pretty frequently, but I don't mind, as that is the nature of these types of cars.

Again, the oil issue is also entirely normal.

3.) Do you have the carbon ceramic brakes? If so, brake squeal is normal.

4.) No idea about the wind-noise. Personally, that would drive me nuts as well.

5.) Go over to the M3/M4 forums; their cars are not entirely perfect either, as they have issues of their own. If you want a car that has zero to no issues, you might want a Lexus instead.

Doesn't hurt taking to another dealer and seeing their input on the issues. For the wind noise, print off and bring in as much documentation as you can that relates to the issue, don't leave it up to them to decide on anything (cause they will won't).

Get a different car if you're so bothered. The remaining things on your list that have not been resolved are pretty normal.
Brakes - normal
Wind noise - deal with it
Add oil - normal

This thread is why I would never sell a car on eBay. You get some unreasonable buyer who has absurd expectations of the seller, will use all technical and legal means to reverse the sale for an 'as-is' purchase.

Anyhow i took my car back because the dealer told me they wont know when the parts will arrive. the third day after i took my car back the check engine lights went up and i was just parking at the parking lot while waiting for my friend. this time was the fill pump.....and it took them ten days to ge the parts and install. now about two days ago my rear view cam stopped working. rofl. and engine light came up again after i pulled in to my garage after a 20 mins drive.... lmao!!! dont feel bad, u r not the worest one and ill sue them for sure after it reach 30 days in the dealer.good luck with you my friend.

High performance brakes will squeak and squeal. In fact all brakes have the chance of squealing, but especially high performance brakes that are made from a harsher material. If you ever sit near a brake zone at a race track it is VERY prominent. Especially when you see track dedicated cars.

Wat????? No, Thats wrong...my c63 basically drives it self and I wish i was joking..i can let go of the wheel for 20+ seconds plus and it stays straight the entire time..you guys have bent something or tires arent aligned properly

Btw no offence but 85k..is jack in 2015, this isn't 1955 anymore and you guys need to accept that our money is practically worthless in this day and age so 85k gets you squat, especially when you can drop another 50-60k and just buy a GTS

1 Our roads here suck. So she pulls once in a while tracks fine once in a while. My CLS did it too.
2 Haven't had an oil consumption issue, but I have a check coolant level every day. Goes away a minute after running. Coolant level is always ok. But I would say that it's expected to burn some oil as everything sets and how hard you run it.
3 brake squeal is normal for a car like this. Mine does it. If it didn't I'd think something was amiss.
4 not experienced that
5 wind noise, I don't hear anything out of the ordinary. I don't expect it to be tomb like. I'd buy an S for that. I'd try and work things out if you like the car. If you don't... Well... Go turn it in for something different.

As mentioned before these cars will burn oil depending on your driving style. As far as the pulling to the right I would take it to a specialist. Could be as easy as a defective tire. I had one before with the same characteristics as you described.

Unless you are racing on tracks, I would not say brake squeak for street driving is normal in our term.

Racingbrake has the right compounds for street (ET500) and spirit driving (XT910), and these two popular compounds have been helping car owners in DD regardless it's iron or CCM brakes to rid of the annoying black dust and embarrassing squeaky noise.

RB is specialized in solving the brake issue (track or street) especially for street driving that usually a car mfgr can not resolve but tell you they are NORMAL.

Read these reviews from customers expressing their frank opinion just to share with other members.

Racing Brakes ET500 installed (GT-R)

As RB brake pads getting more popular for MB owners, we continue developing more applications for Mercedes.

Can someone please educate me on why it is normal to have brake squeal? I currently have an Audi S5 (not exactly comparing apples to apples but not terribly far off) and have never had brake squeal. Just want to prepare myself for when I take delivery next month.

I don't think most cars do squeal. But that said it is quite common to have one that does squeal.
I think initial break-in is very important so you do not glaze the pads by using to hard too early. take it easy on the brakes for the first 500 -1000 miles and you have a better chance to avoid squeal. Also things like gravel getting in and scoring the rotor and pads or rotors not true.
