So based on what they are saying here does that mean that the C63 with the 6.2l/503hp will be the only C-class AMG offered and not a smaller 410-420 HP one?

Interesting rumor since the upcoming (fall) CLK63 has 481hp according to the Mercedes-AMG website.

i stated it back on May 2005 that there will be a C63 and it will have 476 hp. i don't think it will have over 500 hp b/c it will overtake the E63

 

Well I guess their statement "adopt AMG's new 503-hp naturally aspirated V-8 engine" is open to interpretation and could mean a detuned version of the engine.....

 

Those front wheels in my opinion look ... out of place. There is a w140 s420... I think... around here with those wheels, and I cringe every time i see it. Nice to hear more info about the c63!! And yes, I also doubt that it would clear the 500 mark but nothing kleeman can't fix!

 

I seriously doubt those are production wheels. I'm glad they're including the 6.2L in the C class.

 

I agree, the wheels do look a little out of place. But 476 hp is still enough for me!! I can't wait to trade my 55 for the 63

Of course those front wheels will NEVER make it in production on the car, let alone an AMG car. They look like crap IMO anyway.

God i hope this report is true. I will be the first in line for a C63. AMG NEEDS to raise the bar on the RS4 and new M3 coming out. I'll start setting some money aside.

 

I wonder if they put those wheels on it to hide the AMG brakes......?

Well those wheels are just for prototype testing, nothing to do with what make it to production.

I seriously doubt the C63 will have the full 500+ hp, that would make it faster than the CLS,CLK and E63 models. I'm betting on anywhere from 440-475hp. That would be enough in a C-Class. Look for a SLK63 for the 2008 model year also with similar power.

NO FCKING WAY C63 AMG price gets a close to CLS63 power.
I thought I already read it some where the C63 will get a detuned 410hp to compete with M3 E90 and RS4. If C63 gets 481hp like the CLK63, then C63 will not have a 'competitor' , which means this car is going to cost fcking fortune !

No its a C-Class, look it closer. I just has some wheels from the S600 stuck on it for testing.

I wouldn't expect the C63 to have more than 440-460hp anything beyond that is going to be insane and too competitive with the E/CLS63 like others have mentioned. Whatever the upcoming SLK63 gets the C63 will get as far as hp goes. The CLK gets more because of its position in the lineup.
