E36M3 race car/Ferrari F355 GTS/1973 Mini 1275GT/Fiat Abarth/ML63/SLK55
tuners will find 500 hp as most likey the engine is chip restricted. at worse it may be intake or exhaust. the same engine is across the 63 variants.
i like it. the front wheel wells look like they can fit some w i d e rubber.
don't forget it a 7 speed tranny, 3800lbs, 460 hp she will be faster than the v8 m3 in a straight line.
i have 2 more years in my c32. still want a e55 next. a 600 hp e55 that is....
btw....my c32 now...is totally different vs a stock car- handling, power sound. it's phenomenal. i'm against modding in general but this car just plain works. supple suspension, better balance 360 rwp hp. if you have a trouble free c32 and are out of waranty then i'd say get the stg 2, springs and bars.
anyone in my neck of the woods cares to drive my car is welcome to do so. send me a pm.

WOW!!! It seems much different from the sport package version of the regular c class.. KUDOS to AMG for making the car really stand out. I definitely want one and I think I have to have one.
That front bumper is sick!!!!
From comments I have seen and my thoughts:
Yes, the fog lights do look a little large/out of place.
They could have flared the rear fenders more, the front looks great.

Someone get me a tissue box. Quick.
Screw my next car being the SL55...I'll get this instead along with a W202 C43...I've gotta have them ALL!
I *love* the outside. I think the front fogs look ML63-esque. Interior...could use a bit of work, IMO. A custom shift knob, CF interior...I dunno something a bit different yaknow?
Anyways...I'm loving it.

I agree with one of the posts above, the official number of 457hp might very well be a false rumor. AMG needs to "lie" by telling us that our C63 engine is only capable to produce 457 hp. This way the E63 crowds would still feel superior since they had spent a lot more money on the car.
Same story with E55. AMG lied to E55 crowds about their 469 hp engine just to please SL55 crowds. Later on many E55 owners had a pleasant surprise to find out their dyno results at around 500hp.
I have a feeling that after dyno we'll see somewhere around 475-480hp similar to those of CLK63.

2006 E55 and 2002 E320
BMW sold nearly 25,000 E46 M3s between the years of 2001 and 2006! That means roughly out of every 3 series, 1 out of 20 of them are BMW M3s.
In comparison, Mercedes-Benz sells only slightly more than 10% of that in C-Class AMGs.
If you want exclusivity, go with the Merc; but I wouldn't rule out the M3 just yet. The new BMW M3 might not look as commanding as the C63 before us, but it's still not an ugly looking car (one of the better ones from Chris Bangle actually) but it will almost certainly handle very well.
This may come as a surprise as well, but we've got interesting competition from Lexus with their new "IS-F" that will debut at the same time the BMW M3 and Mercedes C63 AMG will (early 2008).
Some interesting questions that will be debated:
1. Which one will be the best to drive every day?
(My guess is the Mercedes C63 AMG)
2. Which one will be the most exclusive?
(Probably the Lexus because few would buy it)
3. Which one will be the best on the track?
(I suspect the M3 to be slightly better than the C63, but don't know since I've driven neither)
4. Reliability?
5. Availability?
6. Which one will have the best interior?
(BMW M3 will likely win this one)
We've got a lot of choices for 2008. It's going to be a great year. Here are some photos for those making your considerations.

I think they are only making 4500 IS-F's.
It'll be excluuuuuuusive
I don't think you've driven ANY of the upcoming cars. To be honest, I don't think ANYONE has driven any of the three cars much less ALL three...
I think depending on how Lexus wants to position F, the answers for the rest or your questions change. Also it depends heavily on if the BMW will be the traditional 50k$ or 70k$ I'm really waiting for someone who has an E55 to drive the C63. If it's a radically different car, then I think it'll be a real fun drivers car

All that power, all that aggression, and still just a conventional automatic transmission!?!? It's starting to become a glaring omission.

The M3 is coming with only standard 6MT transmission in its initial production run. A dual clutch transmission system, dubbed the M-DCT with 7 gears is scheduled to be released in March 2008 along with the introduction of the M3 convertible (most likely in Geneva).
