Lightbulb Get a used 2005 CL 65, then Renntech it!

Get a used 2005 CL 65, then Renntech it! You'll get all this for probably same or even less than a new C63 and it will smoke both even a modded C63 or modded Cts-V. 900+ lb/ft of torque is very possible, and over 740+ HP with just a few mods. How can the N/A V-8 6.3 in the C63 and the Z06's 7.0 liter N/A V-8 in the upcoming CTS-V compete with that? And not to mention the prestige and luxury factor..... The CL65 is atleast several car class levels above a C63 and CTS-V (You'll basically be driving a $200,000 car for around 55k, whereas with the other two you'll be spending close to 70k while driving a 70k car).

LET C32 2002
I fall in line with the majority....C63

I am a fan of the CTS-V but the Benz just will have class written all over it when your clients sit in it and are there when a Vette tries to inspire you to race well the C63 will be able to bring a smile to your face and your chest will feel so huge. The CTS-V will inspire but will eventually fade til you remind a racer what you have. The look of the C63 will be timeless and more appealing to all eyes. My C32 still gets huge compliments from everyone and they have no idea its a 2002....the feeling of owning a Benz that is deadly fast is aw inspiring

^^Timeless looks of the C63? get real. The way the car was styled, its got "look at me!, look at me!" written all over it. Too many creases, too many buldges and too many different shapes definitly dont scream timeless. And the interior is just hiddeous. The seats are nice, but thats it. very uninspiring.

LET C32 2002
I became a Benz person when I got my C32 and it opened my eyes to the MBs,BMW and Audi more. I have to say there are alot of cars out there but the AMG Benzs catch me most....coming from the type of people who see Vettes as dream machines well I have new dream machines and they are Benz mostly. Each person has there own opinion but I am sure most aggree that Benzs are admired by most.

And this completely personal opinion; I don't believe the C63 has enough rubber out back to put any of that power down. I'm all for smoky burnouts, but sometimes it's nice to actually, you know, go. I can't get excited about a car that's going to have the TC light flashing at me when I stomp it at 70mph to pass on the freeway. At least that's my guess, when that much torque gets applied to 255 width tires (or 265 for that matter). My little ole 330i with 265 michelin ps2's had trouble with traction off the line.

Not to mention the nose looks disproportionate since they didn't touch the rear of the car.

I'd go E63 over C63. Car just looks like a franken-car for bragging rights. Not cohesive enough for me.

But then the sound of an amg motor alone is worth the price of admission, so who knows.

I just read yesterday that it's rumored the CTS-V is going to have 500+ hp and AWD. That might make for an interesting combination.
So your choice is? I must of over looked it when reading about how dispropotioned the C63 is, and your better choices of dream cars for him. Stupid me!!

C63 will be overall better choice car. Do not expect lower price for Cadillac either. So stick with Benz, you won't regret.

Buy the C63 man!!....I have the C55 (2004 model) and have never looked back....AMG'S 6.3 V8 (62.08cc) sounds pretty cool to me and in a brand-new all-new C-Class i'm sure you'll love it!!

C63. You want status and you will get it with this car. The CTS-V is a lame attempt at power by GM. Be sure and check the tranny, it used to be available in manual only. I can see that in a C6 Z06 but a Cadillac, please.

A Z06 is hardly a 4 door sedan. And there are foriegn cars as fast as a Z06.

I agree, not too many though. I was talking about my car. I put down 579rwhp and 499rwtq at 3200lbs. I was simply defending this guys blanket statement. I am on this forum because I am a Merc enthusiast and I have a lot of interest in the C63. I love what mercedes has done with this thing, 6.2ltrs of German Beast...I am very anxious.

I didn't mean any disrespect. The Z06 is a blisteringly fast, even stock.

For the same money, I would get a used CLS55 or E55. Much nicer cars and someone else has already taken the big depreciation hit instead of you. If you look at what the AMG cars bring on the open market now days, the C63 will be lucky to retain 50% of its sticker price in three years. Heck, you'll probably be able to pick up a pre owned one in the low $50s or high $40s this time next year. But if your promotion allows you to afford the payments on a $65K car AND the big depreciation hit, go for it.

I think most people interested in the C63 (like myself) are thinking it will be the first AMG that not only goes fast in a straight line, but actually will outhandle most competitors. I drove a local E55 yesterday and DAMN that thing has a ton of torque right off throttle. That's saying alot from me considering what I daily drive. The thing I didn't like was the feeling that it gave me through the steering wheel. I could feel the 4000lbs of mass going around corners. I felt like I was driving a 12 second tank. That makes for a perfect daily driver but not something I'd want to take to a track. My Caddy weighs only a couple hundred pounds less but feels 5-600 lbs less. That's why the C63 is looking so desirable to me.

you're obviously going get biased comments here.

The new CTS is a very nice car, much improved in every way than the previous generation, which beyond the distinctive edgy styline is rather unrefined and lacking in detail. The new CTS (and likewise the CTS-V) has a ton of standard and optional features, many not available on the U.S. C-class/C63.
The CTS is much larger (and heavier) than the C-class which may or may not be good for your wants and needs. If you regularily haul people and lots of gear that may be a good thing, but if you are looking for a more nimble sporty feeling the C63 is big advantage over the CTS-V.

Even though the new CTS is so much more improved it will probably suffer with similar poor depreciation as other Cadillac/GM products. The C63 has more of a prestige and exclusivity than the CTS-V.

The real decision maker lies on the test drive, if you can wait that long.

The C63 weighs about 4000lbs - the same as the CTS. I have no idea how the smallish-looking C63 weighs 4000lbs but that's what all the car rags claim. If they could scrub 4-500lbs off the C63 it would be even more unbelievable!

The C63, like other AMG products, will likely depreciate similar to the Cadillac. I bought my '05 CTS-V for $45k + TTL = $50k. I can sell it (if stock) for about $29-30k. That's a 40% loss in value over 2.5 years. I seen some advertised 2005 E55's for $52k (new $85k ish) and people on the forums say I should be able to get it for a little less. That's at least a 39% loss. More importantly, that's $33k lost vs $20k lost. Does this change my mind on purchasing a NEW C63? A little, but that is just the price you pay for exclusivity.

no its not a comparison. though i have yet to see any other car under 300k that can do a 11.3 @ 127 or faster as a stock car on stock tires!

the question at hand is between the smaller and presumably lighter 500bhp(e63 power) n/a 6.2 v8 vs the bigger and slightly heavier 600bhp blown 6.2 v8?

raw power ~ caddy
handling ~ merc though both cars have been tested and tuned on the ring.
steering feel ~ merc smaller, lighter this is a best guess
tranny ~ merc amg 7 speed, though the caddy may come with the z06 6060 6 speed man.
interior ~ merc
interior room ~ caddy
price ~ caddy, from what i have seen the caddy will be 60-65k

merc ~ 5 caddy ~ 3

special notes
the caddy will have a blown 6.2. the blown 6.2 in the new zr1 vette put down 663rwhp early this summer.
the latest word is that the caddy will have the option of the automanual or straight stick tranny.

you cant go wrong with either car, my personal choice would be the 6 speed manual with the blown v8!
