Love that C63 sound. Funny how 3 people had cameras and posted on YouTube from 3 angles of the exact same corner. That black matte finish just looks plain mean. While I was 98% sold on the S5 a few months ago, I'm getting more and more sold on this car the more I see and hear about it.

a few days ago, i went into an Audi showroom.... they put all the cars pointing to 1 direction.... and i look at all of them on the front.... the result is i can't tell which one is which... they all look the same....
spend 5 minutes in the showroom and that's it... nothing excites me at all.... i am so glad as there is 1 less brand i need to consider for my next purchase...
really dunno what the hell is wrong with their designers.. same front grill for every model....
and copy every move other is making.... R8 and SL, Q7 and ML, A5 and CLK, Q5 AND X3....
.... I REALLY HATE AUDI... SUCH LOSERS..

My line of thinking...I'm pre-30 w/no family so the S5 being a coupe isn't a bad thing, though the C63 being a 4 door is a slightly better thing.

The 10mpg has me concerned, though it's only 2-5 mpg worse than the S5. But, the acceleration and sound the C63 gives off while it's eating up that extra fuel wins some points (admittedly, both have great performance and I'm not shopping to compensate for anything).

The interior styling of the S5 is top notch and the C63 interior is remarkably poor for being $65k+. I do love the Brabus interior leather upgrades, though it may be a year after purchase before I'd sink another $20k on upgrading the interior. The exterior styling of both cars is great and targeted at different emotions, but in the end the S5 gets a lot of the little things right (example: quad exhausts are sulpted with the curve of the diffuser, while the wheel arches on the front of the C63 don't match the rear).

Some 'other' items include the S5's tilt-only sunroof (+1 C63), the better auto on the C63 (+1), and Audi's reliability vs. MB (+1 S5).

So, it's a very tight 'race' in my mind with the biggest item TBD - price. A loaded S5 w/auto after taxes & gas guzzler will run about $63k...possibly the base on the C63. Add another $7k for the 30 package and you're at $77k post taxes & GG. I can justify a $10k premium over the S5, but that's about my limit.
Plus, if the LSD package isn't offered, it's game over for the C63.

Whoa there. That's quite some brand hatred we have there. The R8 is nothing like the SL- it's far lighter, sportier and is not a convertible. The SL is a great looking luxury cruiser with serious straight-line power, the R8 the first successful attempt by one of Germany's big three to take on the Carrera. The Q7 is nothing like the ML as it is far bigger while the A5, well it's a coupe and coupes were around before the CLK you know.

of course if u wanna compare them bit by bit, i can guarrantee you they are different cars..... i just meant that they are following others' direction in launching new models.. but that's not major thing i hate about it.... it's their same front grill on every model ... i wouldn't mind if it's a unique and stunning design, but the fact is it's just a very plain design... why worth to use it on every model...
and their so called 'S and RS' series, again copying M and AMG... i am sure S and RS are faster cars than their standard series, but appearance wise, they don't look much different as like AMG and non-AMG..

While I can agree with you on the grills, the rest of your arguement is pretty narrow-minded. You act like Audi is the first car manufacturer, ever, to try and enter new segments with similar models of their competitors. What do you want them to do, sit on their current models and never produce new ones? Of course they're going to enter markets led by BMW and Mercedes, they are their primary competitors. Audi just recently (past 10-15 years) began gaining a larger market share that allowed them to enter new segments, and they are going to attack their competition with similar cars to "gain a larger piece of the pie". It's how business works. It's the same situation for S and RS cars (which, by the way, do have subtle differences such as a body kit that distinguish it from their A line).
I'm sure somewhere along the way, Audi will produce a car (like the R8 Carl Lassiter spoke of) that Mercedes and BMW would try to emulate. What then, are you going to praise them for doing so but remain hypocritical of Audi for doing the same thing?
It's fine if you don't like the Audi brand, but your reasons for why you do seem biased and predisposed.

i agree. if they put turbos and bhp is around 500 than it will be very competitive.
i like audis and would really consider the RS5 if it's turbo -- that way it will make getting more horsepower pretty easily w/ mods.
