However, I do agree with you that most people would'nt recognize the C63 from a regular C. The majority of people would recognize it as a 4-door Benz, and then a smaller group would recognize it as the C class. And then an even smaller group would recognize it as the C63.

I've had a personal revelation about cars like the GTR. In order to get any use out of the car's obvious capabilities, you need to take it to the track -- something I'm familiar with. If you don't take it to the track, you're either wasting your money, or street racing. Stupid either way.
But if you're using that car to its potential at a track, you're putting the car and yourself at significant risk. It's crazy fast. You'd be going 150+ down the front and back straights at VIR. Without a roll cage, race seats or harnesses, that's just not wise. Even if you're OK with the personal risk, at those speeds, mistakes are unforgiving to say the least.
It all gives me a greater understanding of, and appreciation for, AMG as the "street-driver's supercar." Plenty of HP, decent handling, great brakes and a comfortable interior. I like my current setup alot. AMG for the daily driver and a cheap beater for the track.

Skyline vs C63...
That is saying
Buigatti Veyron vs 911 Turbo...
Both are great, but honestly it is silly...
GTR if u wanna be a rice Rocket man, C63 if u want a car that can take you home in comfort and rip our face off.

The GTR is a car-guy's car, just brute horsepower, just look at it's target a Porsche TURBO, it will leave the C63 in the dust, and is it a soup'd-up Z, yes, to somebody who doesn't know what a GTR is . It's gonna be an awesome car, just wait 'til the real tuners get ahold of it.

That's sick fast.
"We know you want the numbers and we're not going to waste your time. Neither is Nissan. Its 2009 GT-R hits 60 mph in 3.3 seconds, quicker than the last Dodge Viper, Corvette Z06 and Porsche 911 Turbo we tested. Keep your foot pinned, and after another tap on the upshift paddle it will clear the quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds at more than 120 mph. "
But the new 'vette looks really fast too.

These are two different classes of cars. In the small sedan segment, the C63 flat out overpowers and outperforms all of its competition. The 2DR GTR would be better compared to a CLK63 (even though AMG only offers the coupe overseas to pump up Black Series sales over here). Once forced induction becomes an option for the 6.2 Liter, you are going to see even tuned GTR's having trouble keeping up.

As far as comparing the GTR to the C63, well they're not even in the same class and have completely different drivetrains and philosophies behind them, but performance-wise, there isn't any comparison. The GTR outstrips the C63 in every category, it's better compared to Porsche TT's and Z06's, more so the Z06. And don't even get into the "well you can bring the C63 up to 550hp" because you can do far more to the GTR's VR lump for far less money.

Well if I was rich and kept the GTR in the garage for show and paying a hefty insurance prem. No fool drives that everyday. But my current stat the C63 looks good for me.

I think its more like spend $800 on a ECU reflash for a potential 550 HP, almost 100HP gain.
I've heard people on the boards saying that the 63 engine was a stepping stone for the TT 63 engine. If and when that does happen we'll be seeing stock 700+HP benzes...
Anyway, it's going to be fun watching these 2 cars go head to head. The benz has a little more torque, the GTR has a little more HP.

Have any of you seen the latest Edmunds.com review of the GTR? If not, here is the link: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...hotopanel..1#2
0-60= 3.3 seconds
1/4 mile= 11.6 seconds
The c63 can't and never will compare performance wise for you optimist believers.

i think we all agree this is a great car. its just that 1/2 the people cant get over the nissan brand. i think its going to be a while before most people will accept that japanese cars can be luxury cars too

My guess is that Nissan examined the decision to sell the NSX under the Acura name rather than Honda.

That's what I believe. Putting an FI is a no brainer for them. Tranny is another story and my guess is they're currently working on it. It takes a little bit of R&D to come up with a whole new gearing system to be able to handle that much of power and more. Like I said in another post, I'm curious to learn what they're planning for the upcoming W212 AMG. Fun stuff.

'12 Mustang 5.0, '89 Supra Turbo, C55,
I saw this post, and thought, "here we go, bashing on Nissan", but I was pleasantly surprised to read the comments here. MB owners telling it like it is. Really cool IMO. I've never seen a forum where owners really respect other cars in such quantity, and this is a MB forum of all forums!! (It shows the quality and knowledge of the owners).
If I had to choose bet. the 2, it would be the Skyline. The TT Supra came with a 320 hp engine that owners PROVED (already done, NOT speculation, or rumours) was good for 650 hp stock. I would imagine the Skyline too will be overengineered the same way. And as some may say "boy racer image" etc, we all know there is no replacement for power. That's why MB has AMG, BMW has the M division etc. The Skyline will offer incredible power, and no matter what, no 4 door sedan will ever give the feeling that a true sports car can, and that's the bottom line IMO.

There is NOTHING prestigeous owning a MB! It's dime a dozen on the streets in Jersey and NYC. Heck, most people would'nt recognize the C63 from a regular C. Now, the Skyline is a limited production, high performance car that will turn heads wherever it goes. People will ask themselves, what's that! I orginally considered of getting the the C63, but after knowing what a gas hog it is (10mpg), and knowing that MB will tag on everything as an option, the Skyline offers better value AND performance. The Skyline really should not be compared to the C63 because they are totally different cars. Skyline should be compared to the Corvette and other sports cars, not the C63. I just wonder how much premium the Nissan dealer will charge.
But either way, they both are great cars, but in two different markets C63 = M3...Skyline = Vette/Viper.

No longer car shopping...
Well, the C63 is a Merc so you can pretty much COUNT on about a 40% reduction in value (called depreciation) in 2 years. The GT-R is a limited production product (i.e. rare). They are both the same price. Which one do YOU all think will hold it's value better? The mass overly-produced C63 or the restrictive GT-R? Here's a hint, although the GT-R is not yet available here, the price tag is set right at $70K (base line model is $68,400 and premium is $71,900). The first one has already been resold as a used car for.............$95K.
It's like anything else, demand and supply. Nissan gets it. Benz won't be restricting any C63's. As the saying goes, when everyone can get one, no one is special.
