Nissan GTR vs C63?
yes the C63 has 4 doors, (more practical) but GTR will blow teh doors off of C63 in just about every performance category. and pricing wise, if MB stays consistent with their pricing, charging extra $$$ for xenon, cd, etc GTR wont be too much more than C63...

apples and oranges?
1) Price.
2) Value for money.
3) Resale value.
4) Dynamic properties and straight line performance.
5) Horsepower.
6) Prestige.
7) Potential to be a "classic".
8) Enjoyment.
I do not like the look of the Nissan too much. The old GTR was nicer. I also think the new GTR should really be compared with the CLK Black Series coupe.

feel free to correct me if i'm wrong
1) C63 is going to cost less
2) Value is up to you
3) I dont exactly know how skylines will hold their value, but a C63 is a mercedes and will not hold its resale value. ppl seem desperate to get the gtr. You'll strugle getting a C63 at first, but i think you will be able to get one
4) Dynamics for both should be impressive. I think a GTR would win in a straight line.
5) Horsepower should be pretty close
6) I think both owners will think their cars are prestigous
7) GTR has potential to be a classic, if its limited to few. C63 is great, but we all know MB will mass produce them, and everyone will have one.
8) Both cars will be enjoyable.

the #1 reason to get a gtr over a vett , c63 or a m3 is that JAPs super cars in the US hold their value really really good... example 1991 nsx brand new $60k+ and right now its still around $30k... 1993 supra tt new was $35k+ and right now around $20k and look at the evo "used" is like the same price as a brand new ones. you can't go wrong with a JAP

360 iti makes a good point, we could have all picked other cars, but we didnt. I could have went with a 335i, a g37, is350, gs350. They are all faster than my car, but here I am, on the mercedes forum.

hmm... 350Z all suped up? your post makes zero sense. following your logic, then C63 is just a 'suped up' 1.6L I4 C180 with 156HP that costs under $28k.. so who's the dummy paying $75k for a suped up C180.....?

This is true to some degree, but Nissan...Mercedes...hummm, $75k for a "suped up" Z or for a C180, sorry but I would opt for the lesser or the two. There is something about owning/driving a Merc, I never owned a Nissan, maybe you get the same feeling, IDK...

The GTR has awd and a little more hp. Off the line the GTR will destroy the C63. But from a roll it wont be much quicker. Nissan plans to make about 12k GTRs a year. Not a rare car. I would get the C63. Because its a practical sleeper.

I'm with the C63 AMG over a Nissan GTR group...
Yeah the GTR is fast and looks nice... but you can get a better looking C63 for less and give a GTR a good challenge. Straight line GTR has it, But unlocking the C63 engine to full 550HP I think the C63 will give the GTR trouble. Either way I rather get the C63 or used E63 for under $75k.
Also, the feeling you get when in the AMG cockpit will blow away the plastic feel you get when you're in a Nissan. Craftsmanship is just way better in the benz.

With that said, the GTR is on a different league compared to the C63 or even the M3. Even the R34 was leaps and bounds above the c55/c32 in terms of performance.
If I want a highly moddable sports car I will get the GTR - no question about it.

besides, getting close to 30 of age, a man will look much more sophisticated in MB than in this gtr fast and furious type of car... driving gtr will make u look like u struggle a lot to get enough money to buy such car....

I would rather take the GTR over the C63.
why...well most people will not the difference between a C63 vs a C300. You dont know how many times I have gone to a place and they thought my CL55 was a SL. Most people just dont know the difference. We all do cause we are just car junkies. But the GTR looks is so different I am SURE people aren't going to confuse it with a 350z or G35.
Resale - like the Supra and NSX the GTR will hold its value. Being a limited production car some of these buyers aren't going to get hurt when it comes time to sell it.
Price - as long as its close to sticker i think it will be alright. I heard from one dealer that they wanted 20k over...GO F*** yourself. I dont care what kind of car it is, I wont spend that much over what the MSRP is.
Safety - I am very confident in the safety standards of Nissan any any other J cars. Some of my friends have TT 350z n G35s and those that have gotten into some nasty accidents are all fine...
Fun Factor - over all I think any car that is high performance is fun to drive. Some are just great for straight runs and others are great for the canyons.
Prestige - both are $$$ cars, but the GTR is going to have a hand up on this one since its unique look.
but the big PLUS for the GTR is...MOD CITY! From some friends I have over at HKS and some other aftermarket companies...there are going to be a lot of aftermarket performance products for the car.

PS the interior of the GTR is nothing like and will be nothing like the plastic interior of the 350Z.

996 C4, previously owned 996 c2, c32 amg, 350z, R33 GTR, R34 GTR
hang on, the c63 struggles to better an m3 according to most reviews.
the GTR offers 911 turbo performance for base carrera price.
EVO magazine had a C63 3 seconds slower in the wet than an m3, the GTR would kill an m3 around any circuit (7 min 39s around the `ring)
Different cars for different requirements.
Mind Nissan dealers vs Mercedes dealers? thats a contest

1. What if you have two kids? You can't ding a sedan because it has extra room and therefore extra weight. Reminds me of Consumer Reports calling the Miata "small and rough riding." Duh!
2. Prestige? If we use your example of how a car-ignorant public will react, they will see the Mercedes brand as top notch (granted they won't know what AMG means). The Nissan badge has much lower image (at or below Toyota). They probably should have made it an infiniti, like Honda did with the NSX (Acura) and should have done with the S2000. The GTR will look "unique" but to car noobs, every car looks unique, including the Civic with huge, fiberglass body add-ons.
I think the GTR is going to be a great car and a great value. Insurance companies will probably crush it since it will be purchased more readily by younger people (trading in 350Zs and financing GTRs to the hilt) who will proceed to kill themselves and others. It's going to be a different demographic than Porsche buyers. That's why the Supras and other super coupes disappeared.

There is NOTHING prestigeous owning a MB! It's dime a dozen on the streets in Jersey and NYC. Heck, most people would'nt recognize the C63 from a regular C. Now, the Skyline is a limited production, high performance car that will turn heads wherever it goes. People will ask themselves, what's that! I orginally considered of getting the the C63, but after knowing what a gas hog it is (10mpg), and knowing that MB will tag on everything as an option, the Skyline offers better value AND performance. The Skyline really should not be compared to the C63 because they are totally different cars. Skyline should be compared to the Corvette and other sports cars, not the C63. I just wonder how much premium the Nissan dealer will charge.
