Top Gear M3 vs C63AMG vs RS4 VIDEO!!!! Merry Christmas!

C63 is the new king of the road. M3 is a traitor to its heritage and it is a 3650lb pig w/ no torque. BMW has sold out one too many times and I used to be a diehard M3 fanatic back when E36 m3 was still king. BMW has lost their way, faster or not around the track its just not a true M3 anymore.
One thing M3 has done though is come full circle again. Just as with the E30 M3, the new M3 is now no longer the most superior platform for the 3-series. The 335 slightly modded will dominate the new M3 just as a slightly modded E30 325is could potentially destroy an E30 M3. Why anyone would buy a new M3 is beyond me when they can get a 335 for less and make a crapload more power out of it. The golden era of BMW is officially over... AMG is now king.

I believe he means someone from the Asian manufacturers (ie Toyota Mazda Nissan Mistubishi Subaru) design team was let into sindelfingen and messed with the usual understated german design etiquette. I believe its not any kind of rascist remark just in case anyone is thinking that
In any case I think the C63 deserves to stand out a little more. Because it really is a violent animal. If it had poor performance and looked like that then I would certainly say it looks over the top. Its like those Supras you see that have a bodykit that looks like its just a random assembly of shapes with absolutely no discernible pattern. BUT THEN you hear its packing 1000BHP. You tend to appreciate it all then! It all fits
ALSO check out the BRABUS Bullitt C class. That has blood-thirsty looks that match its terminally insane performance

Keep telling yourself that.

no b/c MBs are supposed to be heavy, they always have been they always will be. There was a time when M3s were sub 3000 lbs, now they are 3650 b/c they are filled with crap. When you have a "nuke" under the hood as most AMGs do its ok to have weight b/c you have all the torque in the world. The m3 does not have alot of torque, infact only 295. M3s are supposed to be light and nimble, not heavy porkers. They are no longer catering to their primary target market anymore and they got sucked into the the "arms race" by peer pressure. more importantly they abandoned the inline 6 which is what BMW was known around the world for, they sold out.

No right or wrong. If money is no object, which of these 3 will you get? Consider the style, look, performance and...etc.
I pick C63, because what I really need is pickup speed in straight line such as FWY. I don't race and I want a more comfortable ride. A street racer than track racer....

in my opinion the c63 is by far the best....o the m3 beat it by 5 sec so wats the deal cuz with wat i see thats the only think that the bimmer is better at cuz at everything else they mentioned the c63 was better. roomier, more practical, more power and faster in streight line. thouse are all street cars and when you pull next to a light on the street you dont ask your oponent lets take it to the track you go for that streight line to the next light. thouse are all luxury car that are tuned to be more fun that just a regular luxury car and by far you would have more fun in the c63.

I don't get anything out of a car that so eagerly shreds a set of rear boots. I would really get off on the C63 if it could get that power to the ground.

i remember telling a friend "if the new m3 comes with a flat plane v8 i'm selling my ferrari and c32 and buying 2"
there must be a reason bmw didn't go with the "racing" crank arrangement. they could have easily achieved 9000 rpm/500hp and perhaps, sound better than this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8t8k...eature=related

Remember this is the standard M3 wait until the M3 CSI comes then you will see more power and less weight, besides BMW aren't going to give it the same power as the bigger M5/M6.

Anyway I think it's the deep cross plane V8 burble and roar which I like best. Maybe that's why I like the RS4 and M3 because they rev so high.

the c63 is indeed a huge step away from the pedestrian C class when you consider the bespoke engine and front suspension. this car has a latent 75hp for a of total 525hp, just waiting to be uncorked. another thing (as i understand the system) the esp settings don't make sense. either on or off, but comes back on when brakes are activated. the car could have been great with 3 stages of esp (on/safety net/off) , more rubber, a proper lsd and a more precise tranny.
The AMG Performance package is equiped with a proper, mechanical limited slip differential.
As for the tranny, well, it's an automatic. Seems like it's one of the best out there as far as automatics go and this time around they put proper paddle shifters and included (for the first time), engine blips on downshifts.

Firstly, the pictures above do not show that an LSD was fitted, if you had read most of the UK reviews you would know that really booting it will produce a similar result from the electronic "LSD" as it is overpowered and lets the car slide in a smokey fashion. The difference is that the electronic LSD does not have the smooth progression that the mechanical one does so it is a bit graby and is less easy to control. You can still smoke both rear tyres with either though.
As for a car that shreds it's rear boots so quickly don't forget this is Top Gear and it is unlikely that in real life you will spend 4 shots on camera trying to squash an apple and 12 shots off camera trying to get it right.
Finally, one thing not played for comedy was the track times and the acceleration runs. If you use an M3 most of the year on the road you will get beat by a C63, if you use the M3 most of the year on a track you will whup a C63.
As Jeremy said, for most of us,
" End of story"

I'm not sure how the electronic LSD works, but I'm sure it just uses the ABS to clamp down the spinning wheel. If that is incorrect then please correct me. These pics show power going to both wheels every time one gets on the power. But, hey I don't think it matters much either way.

If you believe that then good for you. Knowing what I know however this is certainly the behaviour of the LSD which was fitted to this vehicle.
