Just Drove An M3!!!

We just got the first one in...white/black. Sticker Price $70,000 as equipped...the clutch is a little frail, lacking torque, SUSPENSION RIDES REALLY ROUGH!! IDK, i think i will look forward to the C63 much more than this M3...nice tachometer though..the outer surround spins to show you the RPM to not exceed while engine is cold...will post pictures in a bit, although nothing we havent seen.

$70,000! thats a bit pricy
what did it come with? (just the things you've noticed)

I was also considering the M3 Sedan for my next car.
I need to see and drive both M3S and C63

thanks for your opinion!
cant wait to see the pics!

Are you sure that didn't include any dealer markups or accessories? Sounds steep to me.

well.. with all the options it has..

plus you must have MDM which needs the NAVI.

base model M3 will be hard to find.

2003 M3
fully loaded = $69,900

I just went to the dealer and sat in both the coupe and sedan. no test drive allowed. I have an 03 M3 vert. I was not blown away by the car by any means. I think I am going with AMG E or C just not sure which. BMW wants too much for that car.

I had a short stint behind the wheel of one in December when in England over Christmas. The EDC was revelation and it rode great in comfort even on the 19s compared to the E46. Can't comment on the power as I had to take it easy as the car was already sold but it sounded good but not as deep as the RS4.

I also think it looks great and is good value at 54,000bucks considering it is just over 50,000 pounds in England.

Getting one loaded makes sense as it will hold it's value well compared to the competition.

the dealers want to sell the fully loaded cars because people who want to be first wouldn't mind paying more for one. Sounds like good business sense to me, but I for sure won't spec it all the way to 70K.

I'd spec it to $70... but it would be for performance mods... exhaust, intake, chip upgrade... that V8M3 powerplant is fully capable of being coaxed to 450 hp...

But realistically, I'll have more fun coaxing my C63 to 500+hp

Oh yes, 500+ whp that is, via Evosport mods I'm gong to contact them right away once my C63 arrives to see if they can adapt the performance mods they did to the CLK63 BS to work on the C63. My goal is for 123-125 mph 1/4 mile traps... I'll be happy with that, and thanks to Evosport seems very realistic now.

looking for E55 AMG
I drove one today and the car was nice but not worth the $. I didn't like the look of the 4 door coupe. 2 door looked a lot better. I will still be in a E55. I was waiting to test drive this car before I pulled the trigger on a E55. I had a 04 E46 and I just had to test ride the new one. All in all I wasn't blown away.

Smile I agree..

On that not being blown away. The M3/M5 are very expensive, and IMO the price is not justified for what you get. Especially when you compare it to some the Benz models that are comparable. I got to test drive them along with some other cars, such as Lexus, etc. The BMW's just did not appeal as much, nice cars though.

The Lexus G/LS Hybrids for that matter were BORING. I ended up getting a CLS, just my experience.

70K is too much in my opinion...C63 has 50% more torque, and 10% more HP...i know where my money will go - thats all i care about to be perfectly honest...i dont drive on a track, i drive on straight roads

Thumbs down

I just got a quote on a 08 M3 sedan here in cali. Car has 70k sticker, they want 2500 down and 1430 a month for 24mo. Not worth it.

Yep. Gas Guzzler Tax is $1,300. So I'm hoping $1,400-1,500 on my C63.

looking for E55 AMG
They quoted me $1200 a month for a 36 month 15k a year lease with around $3500 down. I told them to base the # on $65k. This is what I built one for online. The residual was 52%. Scary.

Car is awesome don't get me wrong, but not $65k awesome. I thought it was 55-58k awesome. This is where this car needs to be in my opinion. For $70k I would be in a used M6 or M5. Both of these cars smoke the M3 in my opinion. Maybe not in acceleration, but in every other category.

Read this post by someone who took a test drive in the m3 sedan:

http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=952818

At SHELLY BMW here in cali they want $90,000 for a M3.

I found a 06 M5 for sale at a bmw dealer with 12500 miles on the east coast for only $53,000.

Buying a car brand new is kind of crazy anyway, I would rather wait a while because it will depreciate a lot.

You are so right. +5! You can easily save $10-$20K on a car even just a year old. I did!
