Sounds like a perfect reason. I was guessing you bought it to tune the hell out of it.

I'd go C63 just for the simple fact that it looks better. The fact that it is a little slower is not a factor. A quick trip to Evosport or another good AMG tuner and that is taken care of.

I would love to, but with the factory block being aluminum & magnesium, I don't know what's gonna happen if I stress it too much, on the other hand, my unlisted pieces are much more "complete" in the sense of tuning which I'd say they are more track/strip ready than street ready.

There is a Dinan Stage 2 Flash/FMIC package coming out which will set the crank numbers at 407hp and 430tq. Pretty exciting stuff. All of that being said though, I am still looking at getting into the C63 when my lease runs out.
Nice!

Excellent point. You seem to have a keen eye for details in this thread.

I think it all comes down to each individual. MB has the power and BMW has the handling. I think its as simple as that. If you want lots of power the C63 would be a better buy, if you want to carve corners I believe the M3 would be a better buy. Lets face it, a vast majority of AMG/MPower drivers probably don't have the driving skills to truely be able to make a fair comparison between the two. The best you can do is go with what matters most to you.

AMG C63
I just happened upon this thread via a search. Its funny how everyone is talking about the M3 being more money in April. Well here it is Oct and if you buy a M3 now its easy to get at invoice so a $68-$70k car is going to be around $60k and the AMG IS MSRP period. Right now in california anyway.

Sure with a piggyback/flash and an exhaust plus intake, the car would be in the 12s, then what? Those tiny turbos are so small I bet my wife could pick one up with one hand, there's no "real" turbo kit avaliable yet, only seen one prototype kit by VIP, not to mention couple of people are saying their wastegates are making funny ticking noises, in which I pointed out what the problem might be and describing the real fix for it, but people think they know everything and can fix anything and deleted my post. To cut this short, here's what I see over on e90post: Most members are aggrogant *****s with too much pride in themselves, aftermarket companies aren't that great because their piggybacks & downpipes are cheap pieces which cause a lot of trouble, and lastly, freedom of speech doesn't exist over there. Even with all the crap going on over there, I still love my 335i, because it's ready everyday for work sites punishment.

Back on subject, C63 all the way, however, if the M3 sedan can come with a carbon fiber roof, vice versa.
I also have a 335i and agree with pretty much everything you said. The biggest problem I have with it is the gas mileage, I'm getting 16.5 MPG and not even driving that fast. Its an excellent daily driver if can overlook the mileage though. In contrast, M3 is a horrible daily driver. The peaky N/A engine has no low-end torque... you have to drive that car at 8K RPM to get any acceleration, and who the heck wants to drive like that on daily basis?

And lastly, if I was choosing between a C63 and M3, I would go with a slightly used E55 or M5 for same or less $$$.

CLK 500(Gone), C63 FTW!
I got 365 days in a year, and most of it (like 360 days), I Dont spend it on the race-track. maybe on the highway or a little bit twisted road maybe.

So, that's why I took the C63. Did I mention how it's GrowL?

On your Radio issue either cars factory system is decent but to get a nice one you have to go after market. Why pay BMW for their crappy stereo. I know in my AMG id have it off most of the time and the windows down just to hear the exhaust. Maybe you could get a MP3 of the C63 and play it in your M to make it sound good.
+1 if u are truly an "audiophile" like you say, then you wouldnt want a ****ty overpriced factory system.

other points to consider and/or to be reinforced:

m3 lease and finance deals right now are way better than the rather horrible lease and finance deals on a c63. m3 had mid-month reduction in these deals. probably talking 100s of dollars difference per month all other things being equal

m3 sounds lame. c63 sounds incredible.

just because a sound system has a brand name on it doesn't mean it is any good. mark levinson at home does not equal mark levinson in the car.

torque=ear to ear grin

seats on c63 might not be everyone's cup of ... uh... tea

It is interesting to see real lease numbers from people who recently acquired M3 or C63. When I did shopping I could get better lease conditions for Mercedes.
I do not believe that in real traffic situation any of the cars will act significant better. However if you want c convertible, M3 can be only selection.

I test drove the M3 6-spd and M-DCT and bought the C63. The M3 is an awesome car but I prefer the C63. It is more fun to drive, more comfortable as a daily driver and more luxurious as well.

Sorry to say, another "with all due respect" ... if you are truly an audiophile, no car system will do. Not a one. Perhaps the Audi 6 or 8 premium systems by B&O - other than that, as bill the cat sez: phfffft.

That aside, I consider myself an audiphile, I have monoblock amps, large B&W speakers etc for home - carwise, I have to say the system that Benz calls premium is pretty darned good. Light years ahead of what BMW crams in and calls premium.

I just came off an E86 M Coupe - their premium system had 4" paper subs. HUH? 4"? I had to build a custom box with a JLA 10" and JLA mono amp just to get any bass. Now don't get me wrong, I don't listen to rap or house... jazz and standard rock vocal - but there was nothing there.

Sure that was a small body car that didn't allow a full bass wave to develop - but it wad ridiculous, as are all of the other BMW sound systems I've listened to (e30, 36, 46 and 90 3 series as well as last and current 5's).

So again, for what it costs and the fact that it's a factory standard item - I'd bet you won't be upset with how the benz stereo sounds. Not that you'll listen to it much, I am always turning it off just to hear the motor. And that, my friend, is someting BMW can't sell you at any price!

AMG C63
The reason the M3 has better lease rates and Financing is because its not selling and the C63 is.

I realize this post is pretty old, but have u read about the upshift delays in the E9x DCT M3s? Just peruse m3forum and you'll see what I'm talking about. Not pretty.

I currently have an E46 SMG M3 and was considering staying in the BMW family for my next car purchase, but recently put a deposit down on a new C63 due to the well-documented DCT issues (already have a 6MT and don't want another manual for my DD). Plus, I think the C63 looks better than the new M's - both inside and out - and I think the HP/TQ advantage makes it more appealing as a DD.
