Quick Questions (Ordering + Paint)
Hi, everyone - first post here. I own an E46 M3 and am seriously considering the C63 AMG as a replacement. (I'm moving my family from Old Town, Alexandria, VA to Marblehead, MA, though, and I've got some concerns about the C63's bad weather capabilities, but that's another story.) Here a couple of specific questions I haven't seen addressed (apologies if my searching skills have been inadequate to the task):
1. How long does it usually take between ordering a Mercedes and U.S. delivery? Is anyone here familiar with the process?
2. Does Mercedes have a mechanism allowing buyers to specify special order colors? The C63 AMG looks great in white, gray, and black, but my M3 is an individual model ordered in velvet blue, and I love having something just a little unusual. Also, there is a red non-AMG C63 parked in my garage that is very handsome.

You can get "special" colors, but its limited to colors available at the factory that makes the C Class. Colors not offered in the US but elsewhere. You'll have to find a dealer that is willing to make arrangements with MBUSA, and sometimes that's tough to do. But for true special custom paint colors. We're out of luck in the US.

Thanks for the response - that sounds basically the same as the BMW program. Only difference might be that BMW will paint the car in any color that's being used in the factory during the relative time period (i.e., the choice isn't model specific).
