C63 Options - Perf Package

i went into my dealer today to try and get myself in line for the inbound C63's and was dissappointed about a couple things, maybe you noticed as well:

1. the "performance package" is not available until 2009 model year. so no limited slip and aluminum brake housing upgrades, no 186mph limiter adjustment

2. the nice turbine-style 19" amg wheels also not showing as available as an option.

3. every freaking video online & on the amg tv show that was on this past tuesdayfeaturing the C63 show the car always with the performance package (and it's going buckwild around the track sideways already)-- so i am curious how much the handling will differ for the cars without it being delivered now to the dealers.

a little bit of bait and switch!! i am ready to go back to benz for this car! just pissed i can't buy it with all the options i want til NOVEMBER for the '09 model! guess i might settle for whats arriving soon...

thoughts??

hmmm maybe...the management at my dealer said it's unlikey for a timely release of the '09 considering the '08 still have not arrived...and they have no real incentive to push the 09 for early delivery in 90 days (july) since they will probably still be filling orders on the '08s.

like everyone else on here...im not good at waiting! lol

I believe the 2009 C63s will be delivered around early September.. they will not be delivered this summer as far as I have been informed.

Personally I'm not worried about the lack of Perf Package, hence why I went ahead and ordered. If I find the car to really be that unbearable without the LSD, I will go aftermarket. I've planned for aftermarket forged 19" wheels anyhow, so that is not an issue, and I'm sure brakes can be improved with a simple pad/fluid change. The limiter will be removed with an ecu tune as well.

So I guess if you don't plan to mod, and think you'll need the LSD, then wait for the Perf Pack. However if you plan to mod then I don't see the need to wait.

good point. i just hate being forced into to modding on day 1 to be happy-- it usually means it's not the right car (in my brain anyway)

I don't think dealers will have trouble getting rid of their 2008's. We're talking about a very small number of cars in a pretty big market. Also, getting a car without the perf package won't be a big deal to someone who HAS to have the car right now.

I've heard all of the dealer allocations in Atlanta for 2008s are gone and spoken for, so you'd have to get in line for a 2009 anyway unless there are some allocations not already going to someone somewhere in the US that could be shipped down.

Your dealer is full of crap. Two different dealers here in SoCal told me if I order today I will have delivery in June/July for a 2009 model.

In south Florida (Ft Myers/Naples area) I put my deposit down about 2 months ago for the first 09. Dealer said mid-June early July and he's still sticking to this. However, I know a lot more about what's going on than him. I really don't want to have to wait till September.

Unfortunately I know more than what my dealer knows as well... which doesn't really help, but from the information that I have at the moment.. the delivery on the 2009 models will be around late August and early September.. but lets hope that Benz doesn't decide to hold the cars back on customers and they actually deliver the cars on time.

it just does not make any business/marketing sense to release/deliver the 08 and 09 model year 60 days apart--- i cant remember anytime in the past mercedes has ever done that and i have bought several amg cars. its highly unlikely that the 09 will be delivered by the time they promise. im happy to wait to months for the 09 but i think it will be a bit longer.
