With DCT I'd take the M3 over the C63, even if the C does hold straightline dominance. That's what the V12TT is for...

sorry a fully loaded M3 with DCT is around $73,000 and a fully loaded C63 is around $65,000 with the extra $8000 dollars I can upgrade the C63 to kill an M3!

Early reviews seem very positive. Especially the automode, which is much improved over the SMG auto modes. Seems like an improvement across the board. What I want to see from MB is there new trans in the C63. The auto has improved with the rev matching, but the upshifts are slow. The lexus automatic has been getting better reviews than the MB auto. Also, give me a full size/ proper tach Merceds Benz. Should be embarassed to put a tach like that on the AMG models

again.. if this was a video, photo or documented race.. it would be a good topic.
but just a random posting.. c'mon
(Yes with DCT, the M3 will probably keep up with the C63) but yet to be tested in North American soil by a respectible magazine.[/QUOTE]
Well said, as usual. Time will tell.

Yes I remember those posts.
At that point when I ran my car it also had a steady CEL due to the terrible after market exh setup I had on the car made by BMC.
My exh setup is totally different now which has made a big difference in the way he car performs now and in the two races I had against TWO modded E46M3's I raced on the same day in Mexico. I still stand by my new findings.
I also have no CEL's whatsoever.
I would also like to make reference to how Improviz's Stck CLK55 (W208) out ran the two modded E39 M5's on the runway in Texas. An E46 M3 can't touch an M5 on a roll.
PS here are the Improviz vids vs the two M5's and to me this says alot.

personaly I dont think the M3 will take the C63, but I havnt tested any car back to back, I also agree put a vid or pic and it has more credibilty. but even that wouldnt prove anything. So many factors in a race...
Any way even if the M3 did beat the C63, by how much?
And for the price diff, dollar for dollar the 63 is the way to go!!

most people that will drive a manual M3 will never driver like the professional editors that test for a living.
C/D just got 4.1 seconds 0-60 and 12.6 @113 out of a manual M3 sedan.
I bet those figures were not acheived on the first pass and took multiple runs to avoid too much wheels spin or too little.
let's face it gents.. in the real world there is no "DO OVERS" you show your self on video.. you better be a good driver or you just pissed off alot of M onwers.
Do you really think a guy that "didn't know HOW to drive" would put him self in that position???? think about it.
Let's stop with the excuses of "he could not drive".. he bought an M3 and most M3 drivers are super skilled Righ! and most AMG drivers are lazy.

The dual clutch has been out for weeks here in the States. It will be available to spec on the sedan in June. It might not be up on BMW's website, but it is here. Check out any M3 boards, there are pictures from owners with the new trans. 100% guaranteed.

What you guys need to understand is this.. until one of us gets a C63 AMG and races an M3 then you will understand. If the m3 is manual then it also depends on the driver. Otherwise, think about it like this... a C55 is faster than a e46 M3, a E63 is faster than the new M5, the E55 is faster than the e46 M5... Every AMG is faster than BMW's M. THE SL63 is faster that the MZ4... everything. Makes no sense to think that a care with that much less horsepower and that much less torque to beat a BEAST. END OF DISCUSSION

E36M3 race car/Ferrari F355 GTS/1973 Mini 1275GT/Fiat Abarth/ML63/SLK55
it's not only power to weight ratio but gearing as well.
the e92 dct is a close ratio box and has essentially 4 gears in the space of the 6 speed's 3- up to roughly 140mph. the mechanical advantage will be considerable especially as the rpm drop for dct is less keeping the m3 v8 in the powerband.
the c63 top 2 gears are for economy and are heavily overdriven. factor in the added mass of the c63 it's becomes very close straightline race indeed....
i can easily justify owning both cars, they are both great and address 2 different niches. pay your money, take your pick but don't denigrate anyone who made an alternative choice.
