Anyone else waiting to see the '09 CTS-V before they buy?

I'm really torn; I can't decide whether to go with a C63 now [if I can find one] or wait to see what the new V is going to be like. Anyone else waiting on a different car to arrive before they make a decision?

I really want a car for summer so its driving me .

I have an agreement with my dealer for the first V coming into their dealership. I cant wait till the magazines start testing it out to see what kind of performance numbers it will put out. I'd wait if I were you, you might regret it later.

I think you're right. I am going to force myself to wait. I'll have to drive the Mondial 8 this summer and pretend it's fast

I think it might be more than a tad, though - there are plenty of rumors that it will have ~567 hp. It should be *very* tunable, as well.

I like a lot of things better on the C63, but all those ponies might make me forget them

I'm pretty sure CTS-V in the mid-size sedan category and competes with the E class. But when it comes to power for the buck, it beats the C63 IMO.

Agreed - price point is the common denominator here. These cars are bargains in this space, IMO.

The CTS (from a size perspective) competes with the C - it's smaller than an E.

With the name you use on this forum, I would think the choice is obvious.

Build Quality? hmmmmmm, I'll take the mercedes. World class? hmmmmm, I'll take AMG. Presence? hmmmmmm, I'll take the mercedes. Personal preference, i guess, no doubt the cts-v will have a powerhouse of a motor, but imo, cant compare the two vehicles, on reputation alone.

+1 I'm sure the new V will be great but it just won't drive, feel or have the presence like a German car.

CTS-V is supercharged I believe, do that to the C63 and you will have a bigger smile than the Cadillac owner

clearly, someone has no idea of comparable "Build quality" etc., as measured by the industry-standard third-party surveyors, between Mercedes Benz, Cadillac and others.

there's some great comedy on this forum, really!

2008 Jeep SRT8 NOW ... C63 IN MAY!
The CTS-V will not just be 'a tad' faster. The CTS-V is going to clean the C63's clock - will not even be close. It has been confirmed to have 550hp and 550ft/lb of torque. The engine is a slightly detuned version of the new engine Corvette ZR1. It will take M3, M5, M6 and C63 around the track and 0-60. However, I still would never buy one - I'm not a Cadillac guy. The C63 is going to be great in its own right.

With all these high powered sedans rolling out from assembly lines, who needs a supercar?

Having dynoed both MB/BMW cars and US cars, my experience is this.

When BMW or MB says the car will produce "x" HP and TQ, they are typically conservative and the delivered car meets or exceeds.

When Detroit says the car will produce "x" HP and TQ, they are typically talking through rose colored sunglasses and the delivered car doesn't quite perform to spec.

Just my experience.

its a amazing car for the price

6.2L LS3 supercharged .. great engine!

6sp manual /auto with LSD!

19's with brembo brakes

great seats..

nice exterior package.. and price should be 60's and low 70's.

but I would not buy one from the dealer. If AMG's don't hold value, I estimate the Caddy's resale value is worts.

Besides.. GM is a bit late on the supercharging party.. its twin turbos and dual clutch transmissions.

I'll take a 5L twin turbo AMG engine around 550hp/650tq any day, even if you have to pay another $25k.

The CTS-V will have its party but it won't be for long.

beyond a point, it's pretty much useless. my e55 wagon was the same way. the yellow triangle of death was highly annoying!

Actually, when looking at GM and Vette engines, they are generally conservative ie the C6/Z06...

I would think it is safe to say the ZR1 will be underrated as well...

I'm with you. Great choices out now and some coming, P30-C63, M3-DCT,RS5, CTS-V.

People bemoan about resale, WTF, they ALL suck. History (next 5 yrs) will tell who's better.

Here's my .02, give me a C63-(P030), with M-DCT, Audi interior and Quattro, oh yah, a Blower too (CTS-V) now that's a ride I could keep for more than 2 years without being bored to death. I would also like a Cougar with LARGE chesticles who owns a tire store. Did I miss anything?
