2009 Fully loaded C63 AMG - black on black and CF trim; 2006 Lexus IS250 AWD;
will this thing lower the temp of the engine bay, coz I found out dat she is too hot after running da engine for only a while

How about a plain high temp plastic version? Frankly I could care less about the pretty factor (though you guys did do a fantastic job on it!). What I care about are the results on the road.

These are not just for looks, VRP actually increased the size slightly and they're expecting a good 20 hp increase and 18 ft-lbs of torque. What do you mean by a plain plastic version?

He means a plastic version of the CF airbox. In other words, all the performance without the excessive CF price.

I happen to come from a manufacturing background and can tell you that plastic is out immediatly because of the tooling costs. Tooling for a pair of lids not counting the engine cover for plastic injection molding (the only technique accurate enough for this application) would be well north of $100K. Couple that with setup fees, min run volumes, etc. and you will quickly end up with a part costing much more than the CF part. Its pretty safe to say that even considering these parts in plastic is a dead issue.

Ok fine, then CNC machined plastic. or fiberglass or anything else but the crazy expensive CF.
Sure tooling is expensive - but if they can make intakes half this size for $200 for just about every other sanely priced car, then why not for this?
It doesn't take that big an injection molder to do this sucker... it looks like three decently sized (not huge, not minute) parts.
So yes - please register my interest. I really don't care what things look like under the hood and in fact I never look other than to check fluids. It's not a show car for me. And FWIW - the stocker would go on before every service visit just in case - so anyone who would appreciate it would never get to see it anyhow.
And yes, it's still gorgeous work as you've shown it!!
