The reason I ask is because my 08 is on rail from Halifax, it should be should arriving real soon, I still can't get any concrete lease rates out of the dealer Re: interest rates or residuals on the car. This prompted me to contact an independent broker, who said he could get me an 09 for 2K less, than my current price & a better residual than mercedes will offer. He also said he could do better on any interest rate they were offering. That being said I wouldn't get the car till Sept. Of course I have no way of comparing when there is no info on 08's or 09's currently. My dilemma.

What about PP? I really only need the LSD feature. What about the Multimedia Package? Is it worth the money? Should I spend it elsewhere as I haven't used the Mark Levinson option much in my package (nav and great audio / video system)?

Lastly, is the gas guzzler tax standard? I'm told I have to pay $2100 to cover what the dealership has to pay the gov't.

Thanks in advance for your comments!
At this time you can only look at the options on 2008 and consider a European Delivery that will be available in about four months. The prices are set with a standard 7% discount or more depending on the dealer. The prices are not due for the 2009 Model Year until about July 1, 2008 and may be as late as July 15, 2008. There should be some good buys on the Model Year 2008. If you wait two months the Model Year 2009 will be available. The gas guzzler tax on the 8 cylinders vehicles. Last Year the E550 8 cylinders without the four wheel drive did not have a gas guzzler tax. There was a gas guzzler tax four wheel driver 8 cylinders.

I am sure you can do better with a dealer than a third party on pricing. We have bankrate.com in the states to compare interest rates on automobiles. Strange you can't get any prices on Model Year 2008. We are waiting for the prices on Model Year 2009. We use edmunds.com and kbb.com in the states to compare prices. The auto club and Costco also may be of asssistance in obtain prices. If you search this group and other groups your can obtain some information on the leasing factors. Leasing is a little more difficult then a straight buy with all the factors to considers. Consumer Reports and Money Magazine may have some comparsion on the leasing factors.

I'm told the dealer rates fluctuate and they won't have a firm price re resid & interest rate/money factor until the car lands. there are not alot of 08's floating around here yet, they're just coming in now. Bank rates don't really apply to a lease since your doing it in house, or with an outside broker, they set the rates & your kinda at their mercy. So with no info it's kinda hard to bargain. I've told the dealer they have to provide some sort of incentive with the 09's so close on their heels, but their attitude is like so many others. It's an AMG there's people lined up at the door, Blah Blah Blah. The usual BS. we'll wait an see what they do, that's pretty much all I can do at this point.

Try this web site in Canada http://www.mercedes-benz.ca/index.cfm?id=6219. You can start there and build your car out and get lease quote from MB then to a dealer. Many years since I leased a vehicle.

Still?!

So, my car is being built in 2 days and hopefully here on the fastest ship in transatlantic history, ok, that bit may be a a little optimistic. The thing is, STILL no 2009 pricing.

Has anyone heard anything concrete on this yet?

Feels weird to have the car so close yet have no idea what I'll be paying!! The dealer "assures" me that it's unlikely to be much more than a $500 YoY increase, but then again, he would.

My dealer said there was an increase on the Model Year 2008 around the first of the year and there may be a small increase on the Model Year 2009. There is a big sale on until July 31, 2008 on the remaining Model Year 2008 vehicles that are left. I heard the prices may not be available for the Model Year 2009 until July 1, 2008 and may be as late as July 15, 2008. The Model Year 2009 will not be released unitl about August 1, 2008.

My 09 is being built this week which means it should be delivered sometime middle of July but my dealer also told me that the 09's will be held up and not released until the beginning of August. I believe that August 1st is the official release date of the MY09. No pricing yet. Hard to believe there is still no pricing. Hopefully we are not in for a big surprise.

There are many thing going on now. The dollar is up and down. Selling the remaining Model Year 2008 vehicles before releasing the Model Year 2009 vehicles on the Market.

The official delivery date for the Model Year 2009 is about August 1, 2008. The date may change but it seem very firm for now. If the Model Year 2008 sells faster than planned MB may adust the delivery date to have vehicles available to sell.

Does anyone know when they make the VIN available? Before production? Day of? Assume it must be available once the car has been produced.

Thanks!

I ordered an 09 on the condition that I am OK with the pricing. My dealer still doersn't have 09 pricing. I'll find out the price once the vehicle is built.

I think the prices and VIN numbers will be release sometime in the middle of July 2008. The Year End Sale is going on now.
