Same thing happened when the C32 came out. Fletcher Jones offered me $60K for my $52K msrp C32. They had a pre-owned one on the lot for 70 something. The reason they do this is because MB frowns on them if they sell a new car at anything over MSRP.

Well at least it is nice to know MB has an impact on what dealers sell for. I think its ridiculous what they do, but I think its even more ridiculous that people actually pay these premiums.

There is a very short window for dealers to charge a premium on these cars. In 3-4 weeks, most dealers will have 2-3 in stock, and then the 09 will start to roll in. MBUSA is marketing the car nationwide in tv spots, so you know they are planning on making plenty of units.

Its at $79k, but I doubt that bid is legit. Who makes a bid from $68k, to $79k. Its probably the dealers personal acct trying to bid it up.
