C&D comparo - 911 TT vs GTR vs M3

And the winner is ....

the other german car. And we all though BMW only slips a couple of benjamins under the table for C and D

Here's the verdict on the GTR - "Nissan aims for Ferrari and got somewhere between the 911 TT and M3"

So in other words, the M3 is a Ferrari beating machine? The 911 TT owner must feel like a 'tard over at that brand new M3. Lovely logic. I think I am going to stick with R and T for good.

Dummy comparo in the first place. I really don't like C&D, they're Bimmer worshippers and the furthest thing from objective out of all the US publications.

Yea the Porsche turbo got blasted for rear seat space, rear seat comfort, ride comfort, trunk space, and price. WTF kind of performance parameters is that?

Aside from looking wimpy compared to it's predecessor, the E92 M3 is a great car and best in class in my opinion. However, it cannot and does not compete with the GTR and 997TT. A pathetic article and no wonder people complain about magazines sometimes favoring certain makers over others

C&D is junk, I won't be renewing my subscription. The GTR aimed for the 911 Turbo and beat everyone on The Ring... so I'm not sure what they're talking about. Its all a scam... BMW slips magazine editors money so they give it insane praise, then the dealerships recoup that cost via insane mark-ups.

Don't forget the 20 extra points given to the M3 for better cup holders!! I claim:

Don't you really mean to say "Who at BMW was wearing the knee pads when dropping off the M3 for the comparo?"

To me the ultimate test of a car's performance its how it runs around a track, you got the turns that put its suspension/handling to the test and the straights to give the engine room to "stretch its legs"

now to me the nurburgring might be the best track in the world, so if the GTR got around faster then some of the most amazing exotics namely the carrera gt, the slr 722, the koenigsegg, even the veyron then to me it seems like it should be deserving of a first place victory over the turbo and the m3

now the press release from nissan may be just one big lie but otherwise that little story about beating all those exotics really happened

thats just my opinion though

to be fair, i haven't seen the test.

however, the GTR is easily faster than the other two cars on any track or road. acceleration should be a wash with the 911 turbo, with the M3 trailing behind by almost a second in the 1/4 mile. it may lose points for poor ride quality and perhaps the jerky transmission if they haven't sorted that out yet, but that is all i can think of.

The M3 truly does offer supercar performance in a bland/ affordable package (before dealer mark-ups), but its no supercar killer. Its on par at best with exotics in the performance aspect. The supercar killer is the GTR. The 911 Turbo is more of an every day car, than exotic race car... its far more sedate than the M3 or GTR.

wow, the turbo spanked the M3 on a track?? don't tell me the M3 won on being the quietest car of the bunch or because it has the fastest lane change speeds or its phenominal 30-50 acceleration lol...

just read the article... sheesh, what a load of bullplop! worst performer of the bunch, but it still won because it came in close enough and costs so much less. i guess they didn't take into account the price gouging going on.
