Thanks guys....
I am up to 450 miles since Monday.
I have only put it to the floor 2-3 times and only for a couple of seconds.
I am really trying to break it in right, but the temptation is always there.

Well, you're very upbeat for a drug dealer.Originally Posted by yell03

If I were an illegal drug dealer I would have been able to keep the Porsche too.

Extremely funny post to read.... very excited about my order as I just canceled the first order in Houston to order again in Austin....I can't wait till November.
Reading your post makes me question how long I'm going to be able to hold off putting the pedal to the medal. Since I'm only 22 I need to attempt to be the "mature" adult and take it slow but from the sound of your posts that is a very very difficult thing to do.
Thanks for all the info and enjoy the Beast

Note: Just got word I have 45 days till lift off!!!

I went from being very down about giving up my Porssche to pure elation.
I will say there are other perks....
When I drove the Porsche for as many thumbs up I received, I also received dirty looks.
I felt that the Bright Red Porsche was too in your face for some people, too showy for some situations. I felt kind of like, look at the "*****" in his Porsche.
My Yellow Z06 never got this negative attention nor did my Bright Yellow Black stripes Viper, but remember, they are American Icons.
The C63 is still getting positive attention from high end car aficiandos as well as from teenagers and the guy in the Ford F150 with Loud mufflers.
That means alot to me.
I am a Blue Collar Type of guy in a white collar profession.
It means more to me to get the thumbs up from other guys like me than to see the young woman drooling over my Porsche.
Maybe these are just my issues?
The C63 is a man's car, it is LOUD, in your face, and powerful, but it is also not available in YELLOW or BRIGHT RED.
It doesn't SCREAM LOOK AT ME from its appearance, but people do notice it when they are looking around to see where the EVIL sound is coming from.
It is very understated even with the boy-racer add-ons, eveyone including myself think they look tasteful and great. Many magazines feel they look tacky, but they really work to make the car look good.
This car is a SLEEPER, us old guys know what that means.
Just keep it quiet when you roll up next to that Vette.
Oh yes, be aware that cool people will ride in your blind spot trying to keep their drivers side window next to your exhaust pipes so they can listen to the music.
If that is not a compliment, nothing is.
In my life I've owned a few cars that were special, cars that defined an era, that changed the auto industry much like Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan changed Basketball:
They are in date order with factory horsepower ratings:
1987 Mustang GT (225hp)
2001 Viper GTS (450hp)
2003 Mustang Cobra (390hp)
2007 Corvette Z06 (505hp)
and
2008 Mercedes C63 AMG (451hp)
These are all cars that will go down in history as special, cars that have almost a cult-like following, cars that make the front page of every car magazine, the C63 will too, mark my words.

Speaking of Houston dealers, when I first started calling around for a 63, one dealer told me I needed to give them a NON refundable $2500.00 deposit to save my place in line. That said, I went to New Orleans ordered my 09' with a $1000.00 refundable deposit (if need be).Originally Posted by AMG3Y3CON

You will be fine, but be careful.
I remember being 23 years old and totalling my 1st Musclecar, a 1987 Mustang GT convertible with a manual tranny.
I was street racing in an area I was not familiar with, one unexpected curve later.....
I ended up being meci-vac'd to a trauma center and put on life support for 3 days and I remained in the hospital for almost 2 weeks.
The scary thing is that car only had 225hp, 1/2 the hp of this car.

Not Bright Red compared to my Porsche
Yes, I am the sucker sho bought it.

If you don't mind me asking. How'd you get 45 days from now? Which Austin dealership did you order from?

Howard - I had a 350Z before this and also drove a few SL's in Holland so I think I should be alright

Making stupid choices while driving has never been my idea of a good time.

It seems to be a bit tail happy, I try to make sure I am pointed straight before giving it any pedal.

I had a 350z also, fun car, but ultimately I wanted a little more power and traded it in on a C6 Vette.
My father has a SL550, nice car, pretty quick too, but you will love the extra room in the C63. Did I mention how much you will LOVE the sound of it.
