I think anybody who owns one will feel the same way and understand, the car truly has a personality.

I went from being very down about giving up my Porssche to pure elation.

I will say there are other perks....

When I drove the Porsche for as many thumbs up I received, I also received dirty looks.
I felt that the Bright Red Porsche was too in your face for some people, too showy for some situations. I felt kind of like, look at the "*****" in his Porsche.

My Yellow Z06 never got this negative attention nor did my Bright Yellow Black stripes Viper, but remember, they are American Icons.

The C63 is still getting positive attention from high end car aficiandos as well as from teenagers and the guy in the Ford F150 with Loud mufflers.
That means alot to me.

I am a Blue Collar Type of guy in a white collar profession.

It means more to me to get the thumbs up from other guys like me than to see the young woman drooling over my Porsche.

Maybe these are just my issues?

The C63 is a man's car, it is LOUD, in your face, and powerful, but it is also not available in YELLOW or BRIGHT RED.

It doesn't SCREAM LOOK AT ME from its appearance, but people do notice it when they are looking around to see where the EVIL sound is coming from.
It is very understated even with the boy-racer add-ons, eveyone including myself think they look tasteful and great. Many magazines feel they look tacky, but they really work to make the car look good.

This car is a SLEEPER, us old guys know what that means.

Just keep it quiet when you roll up next to that Vette.

Oh yes, be aware that cool people will ride in your blind spot trying to keep their drivers side window next to your exhaust pipes so they can listen to the music.

If that is not a compliment, nothing is.

In my life I've owned a few cars that were special, cars that defined an era, that changed the auto industry much like Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan changed Basketball:

They are in date order with factory horsepower ratings:

1987 Mustang GT (225hp)
2001 Viper GTS (450hp)
2003 Mustang Cobra (390hp)
2007 Corvette Z06 (505hp)
and
2008 Mercedes C63 AMG (451hp)

These are all cars that will go down in history as special, cars that have almost a cult-like following, cars that make the front page of every car magazine, the C63 will too, mark my words.

haha...thats the same reaction i get, not too many thumbs up, though i do get a few, but i notice many people will ride your blind spot and crack their windows. i had one guy behind me jump on his mobile phone and stick it out the window as i left a red light. (too funny) i enjoyed his enthusiasm, so i let it go to 4500, he smiled ear to ear, got on the phone, talked to his buddy and pulled up aside me. we chatted and laughed about it at the next light a bit. another car enthusiast, a real decent guy, and in the end we both thought it was funny. good times.

in any case, i am not too concerned with the vanities that can go along with a car like this. i, like you, really just love the way it feels and drives. i am enjoying my time in the drivers seat every-time i'm in the car.

have fun, enjoy and be safe.

If you're willing to drive 2 hrs to PA. I beleive there is one available to see and actaully drive.

Look on the web for MB dealers in that area, and call them I foreget the name of the dealer but I do remember it was the largest in PA. They had a P silver in the show room, I was absolutley surprised and amazed when he didn't care that I was from NY on business,,...I'm guessing they're trying to look busy. It looked kinda dead at dealership, no one was buying cars he said.

Thanks....

I need to take some pics on a less BRIGHT sunny day, it took away alot of the depth of the color.

It looks like the pics are over-exposed.

My business is Respiratory and Diabetic meds so I am OK

I am in Pennsylvania....

RI is a hike from here with my bad back.

We just cancelled our vacation to the Adirondacks, a 7 hour ride will kille me right now, even in the most comfortable seats in the wrold.

Ocean City, NJ at 2 hours is a better idea at this point.

Thanks for the invite!!!

A few, I never need more than a slight squeeze of the pedal to accomplish the task at hand.

I has a LOUD 396 El Camino fly by me yesterday at like 80mph in a 45 zone and jam on the brakes to wait for me at the next light.

As soon as the light dropped he was Bus-lengths behind me by 60mph wondering what just happened

I had another guy in a Porsche Boxter-S who thought he was crushing me on the highway, I won't race at high speeds, I need my license.

We jump off the highway and the road goes from 2 lanes to one lane, we are both doing 30 or so and he nails it, a slight squeeze of the pedal and I flew by him and he learned I was not racing on the highway.

Again, be careful, this car will ake you do things you should not do.
Have some restraint.

Yesterday however the power cam ein handy.

I was on a one lane in each direction road with a 50mph limit.
The morin in front of me was driving for miles at 35mph

The guy in the Dodge Pick-up was on my azz and I could not do anything as it was double solid yellow lines.

Finally we came to dotted lines on my side meaning I am allowed to pass.

However, I can see cars coming the other way, but if I make my move NOW I can clear them with ease.

I nudge the pedal down and let me tell you, this thing HAULS THE MAIL.

Safely with plenty of room to spare, I mean the people coming towards me never even needed to worry, I went by the snail and settled back down to the speed liimit.

I felt bad for the guy in the Dodge Hemi Pick-up, he just couldn't make the pass.

I bought it for sticker, $64840.

They fought me tooth and nail on my trade.

It was a $93K MSRP 2007 Porsche 911 Targa 4 with 3800 miles.

I bought it for $78K New in 1/08.

I had to fight them to give me $66.3K.

They would not budge off $64K, they let me walk twice.

I finally threatened then with pulling the service from them on both of my Mercedes (2003 S500 and 2008 C63), my father's Mercedes SL550 which I am co-owner of, and my father-in-laws Mercedes E320.

I went in only wanting to finance max $55K (I had equity in my Porsche) and they would not budge off $60K.

Basically I wanted $67K for my car minimum, I really wanted $71K originally.

The sales manager was being stubborn saying she can't over allow me on my car as the C63 is a car she can't give away.
No other dealers were offering me more than $64K-$67K on my car.

I just wanted her to match the deal I had on a car that was coming in next week at another dealer, $67K for my car and MSRP for their car.

I told her she was being short sighted by not budging and they would lose way more money than that by losing the service on 4 cars.

Finally we got it done for $700 more than I wanted, then I had to fight with their finance manager on an acceptable fiance rate. My Porsche was financed at 4.89%, but the best I could get was 6% for 69 months on the Benz as I had cosigned on my dad's Benz and two cars for my business, so my debt ratio was hurting me. They had started at 7.99%.

Long story short, my payments are exactly the same for the same remaining months of my Porsche payment.

I have never had to work so hard to buy a car, I didn't realize these cars were the HOT ITEM!

1st amg -

It still does that to me, especially when I have to full it up with fuel.

If you drive aggressively you will only see 10mpg around town, sometimes even 9mpg

Highway will do over 19mpg.

My C6 Z06 did 28mpg on the highway and 13in the city.

The Porsche did 13-15 in the city and 26 on the highway.

Sweet,

I have a Palladium Silver on order scheduled for August delivery. I initially wanted White, then actually ordered Steel Grey and at the last minute changed it to Palladium Silver. After seeing your pics, I am glad I did.

I took pics of the seats, but they came out over exposed due to the Bright Sunlight.

I need to get out there later in the day.

My property gets strong sunlight in themorning through late afternoon.

Actually my pics don't do the color justice, it looks much lighter in the pics, more silvery.

In person it is a deep pewter color.

As for the EVIL, a guy in a LOUD older Cobra tried it from a 50-60mph roll, the Benz just walked away right from the drop. We both backed off right away, no sense risking anything or rubbing somebody's nose in it.

In his defense, he was running a 300rwhp (we spoke for a while after) older Cobra against a 380rwhp Benz.
He probably had a 400lbs weight advantage, but that is definitely not enough.

He could not believe the exhaust was stock.
