New Owner of a 2008 C63 AMG - IT'S EVIL!
Lucky for me I blew out my back and was walking hunched over for a week.
Went to the Doctor and after heavy doses of Steroids and anti-inflammatory drugs I was standing straight and walking again.
I am a pharmacist and I did not think meds would help, I thought my 2nd back surgery was going to be the prognosis.
However, the pattern was clear, every time I start driving a manual tranny my back flares up and my left leg is where the problems show up.
It forced me to sell my 2001 Viper GTS and now my Brand New in 1/08 Porsche 911 Targa 4 was going to be the victim.
I had just traded my 2007 Z06 in on the 911 back in January, the Z06 was just too fast for public roads and I feared for my life and license.
So, I went to a local Mercedes dealer and drove a 600hp 2005 CL65 AMG with 14K that was selling for $82K.
The car felt like a big boat and really did nothing for me.
I also test drove a 2005 CL55 AMG, it was gorgeous in silver with light gray interior, but also was boring to me.
If you are going to have a 500hp or 600hp car, please make it sound the part.
That is something that always bothered me about Vettes, they sound weak.
My 16 year old daughter has a 2007 Mustang GT with SLP Loudmouths, that is what I want my car to sound like.![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
The dealership told me that next month they are expecting a NEW 2009 C63 AMG and I should check it out.
Hmmm, a C63 AMG, I never heard of that.
So at home I do research and watch some videos and I'm hooked, this looks good.
Off to another local dealership where I find a Pewter (the optional color - I think it's called Iradium Gray) C63 AMG.
It has the optional $2950 interior in light gray and the Navigation unit.
MSRP is $64840.
I didn't know these cars were rare so I tell them to tag it and that I want to take it home to show my wife, a 25 mile round trip.
I have bought cars from them before and they say OK, plus they know I'll be safe as I have my two kids with me.
As soon as I pull out of the dealership and hear that exhaust I was hooked.
What a great ride home.
My wife is blown away as are my kids.
Back to the dealership where they value my 5 moth old $93K MSRP Porsche at $64K.
I had just paid $78K for it 5 months ago, needless to say I was not happy.
After much haggling, walking away and leaving the dealership twice, I finally got the dealership to go to $66.3 for my trade.
The result, my payments are the same for the same amount of remaining months on my Porsche loan.
Now, I must admit, if the C63 AMG had been a $85K car I would still want it.
After driving this car I came to the conclusion it is EVIL, it has a power over me, it makes me do things I never would do, not even in my other nasty cars I've previously owned.
THEN I SAW THE LAST 3 DIGITS OF THE VIN# - 666![EEK!](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
That explains it.![devil](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/devil.gif)
I feel very furtunate to be able to own this car at age 44.
I've never driven anything better and my bet is I'll keep this car for 4 years, considering I have not owned any sports car for longer than 1&1/2 years, most less than 6 months, that is saying alot.
Glad to be aboard,
Howard

I don't now when I will take it to the strip, probably not until I knock off some of the bank note.
That is a check my azz can't cash if something happens.
My daughter's car is an automatic, considering she is going for her license on 7/1/08 an automatic is safer.
Still, what a lucky 16 year old, a 300hp snarling V8 Mustang GT as her 1st car, as for her character, she paid for 2/3 of it.

ll try to get some pics this weekend, but if you do a google search you will find tons of pics of this color.
If you have not driven this car yet, you are in for a treat.
The sound of this car alone is worth the price of admission, the speed and handling is a bonus, and the seats, oh the most supportive and comfortable seats I have ever had the pleasure to sit in.

The only bad thing, the gas mileage is horrible, but maybe I should stop downshifting and blipping the throttle.

Howard, again, thanks for the "foreshadowing" as i havent driven the car, nor have i heard one live, everything i based my decision on between this car and the other two germans, was what i read and heard on the youtube clips, i crave a big muscular sounding 8 mixed with refinement. As far as gas consumption, oh well, the only regret i have is that i have to waste my summer away daydreaming about this beast in my hands. More stories please, but i suppose you need to go out and rack up some miles! So get to work, Nick.

I'll keep you updated.
The sounds is amazing.....
I've owned at least 20 Mustangs with V8s and aftermarket exhausts, Z28s, Trans Ams, a 67 Camaro with a worked 350, Vettes, Vipers....
Nothing even comes close to the sound of this beast.
The wait will be well worth it.
I have out on 275 miles since Monday.

I have always been enamoured with v8's..I had a 98 SVT Cobra, built, BBK headers, borla exhaust, cams, MAF, etc. Stock was never enough...you know, "Loud pipes save lives". Track car, not just the dragstrip, but i am big into soloing(road course). I also had a 2003 c5 corvette built, but i havent had a v8 sports car for quite some time. The only satisfaction of hearing the big block sound is from my 2008 Ram Hemi. So for now, I hammer the Hemi, and get juicy info from guys like yourselves on this forum, GO HAVE FUN! Nick.

Howard,
Glad you are enjoying the car. Great engine.
Careful with those NSAIDS though. I'm a nephrologist. Hope your back stays well.

Dude it was the exhaust note that got me too. I traded in my '06 997 C2S on it. I basically got the car for the engine. I miss my Porsche but having the chance to ride that V8 was irresistible. It is totally badass.

Thanks everyone.
For those of you who have never driven one and bought anyway, you won't be disappointed, I promise.

I am a Mustang guy at heart, I was "Administrator" of SVTsnake.com for years.
The C63 is a matured 03 Cobra![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
GBlansten -
I hear that, I am cutting back as we speak.
MFC997 -
The Porsche handled like nothing else I've ever had, even with only 325hp it never was lacking for power or fun.
I'd still take the C63 over it![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
