Engine Diagnostic Problem
Now has just under 2000 miles on it and luckily enough, after a 400 mile drive home yesterday the amber engine diagnostic light came on just 50 yards from home!
Roadside tech. says it is misfiring on at least 4 cylinders, showing other issues. His hunch is sensor problem but as this is so new a car - needs to go to dealer.
Hey ho...will let you know what happens.

I had the "engine" light go amber with only 60 miles on my car. I was on the 5 freeway in the East LA interchange. Not many options, I exited and shut down anyway.
The car was running fine, just the same as before the light went on, and not making any noises, temps were fine, so in the interest of self-preservation, and the fact my roadside assistance button was only giving me a pre-recorded announcement.... I drove all the way to work, back home, and to the dealer the next day. With the light on. In my experience it's usually an O2 sensor or something to do with emissions and not engine-threatening.It turned out to be a bad cam position sensor. The dealer didn't have the part in stock, so I drove back home and returned to the dealer a few days later. It was fine, I just took it easy on the car since I could hear a ping under certain throttle situations. The sensor was replaced and the car has been flawless since then.
If the engine light glows yellow/amber, it's OK to drive. If it glows red, you gotta stop (hopefully you are not in East LA when that happens
)Good luck and let us know how it turns out. Hope you get a nice loaner too.

Roadside Assistance were great - delivered a brand new (20 miles on the clock) E220 right away. Can't fault them or the local dealer who fixed it quickly.
Mine lost all power - not immediately but gradually. Eventually it stopped itself on tickover.
Cheers!
